I'm still waiting on my $125 bonus for the HSBC account. The bonus was promised within 60 business days there too. I'm currently on day 74.
Also, don't expect a response from slickdeals. I sent multiple emails and have yet to get a reply

update 1 (9/13/20):
Finally did get a response from slickdeals. Had to submit proof that I opened the account. Still waiting for my bonus

update 2 (9/21/20):
Still no bonus and no response from slickdeals after providing proof that the account was opened. I won't ever make the mistake of falling for one of these scams again.

update 3 (10/2/20):
Still no bonus. 8 days ago Slickdeals told me to wait until the end of this week for the bonus to show in my account. It has now been 86 business days of the 60 that they promised.

update 4 10/7/20
Finally got my bonus.
It only took three emails to [email protected], sending additional proof that I opened the HSBC account and a long wait of 127 days or 89 business days. I definitely will never be doing one of these slickdeal rebates ever again.
Looks like a hard pull. I've got my bureaus frozen and it tried to get to Experian. You can't open an account without it.
Already did it direct for $125

Seems this has SIPC (as it's a brokerage product) instead of FDIC insurance? Does that mean if SoFi experiences a bank run, you could be out of luck as far as losing access to funds?
SIPC is fine. Coverage is 250K cash, big thing on market products is it doesn't insure against market loss, which doesn't come into play here. As long as you have under 250K cash, 100% of your cash is protected.

SoFi used to be great, but has been going downhill after all the recent changes.

Try betterment If you're looking for a fee free visa debit for international travel.

Definitely too rich for my blood knowing SD's rebate more than spotty record.

There was a $25 in free stock offer that I never got from SoFi (a direct offer for signing up, no referral business). Never forgave them for that. Now that Robinhood and Cash App (Square) offers fractional investing there's no reason other than hedging your money on the offer. They're legit but lemme tell you, their iPad App could use some major refinement.

They're not actually a bank. They send your money to other banks, which is how they can achieve $1.5m FDIC coverage per account. The limit is 250k per account holder per bank.

SOFI Money is covered by FDIC, money goes to multiple partner banks of which are FDIC insured. Sofi Invest is SIPC.

I have SoFi and have had good experiences so far. I didn't like that they changed their routing number though - that was annoying.

Yeah they changed partner banks from Wilmington Trust to Bancorp. That was a huge PITA. Another issue is they don't have all of the bill payees that other banks have. For example I can't find chase consumer credit cards, not on their list. Just Chase Manhattan Bank but that didn't work for one of my chase credit cards. I contacted support and they didn't know what to do. Other than that I like it a lot. I use the Vault feature for spending budgeting , so it's like having cash envelopes but digitally . I also like that their ATM limit is higher than most ($600)

Wake me up when they have the $200 bonus again that expired a few weeks ago:

[Expired] SoFi Money $200 Bonus
Sign up for SoFi Money.
You add $100. They'll give you $125.
Set up a direct deposit or deposit your stimulus check of at least $500 and they'll give you another $75.
Offer set to expire 8/14/2020.

Sofi is cool for refunding atm fees. There's a bit of a lag between depositing a check or transferring funds in and having the full amount available to withdraw. That and the fact that their interest rate dropped significantly are the only downsides I see. I have some of their micro stocks too.

This is the same offer with a twist: You get $75, then $50 goes into someone else's pocket.
