It's 4 years since receiving the sign up bonus.
You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.

For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

I have 4 chase cards right now. I wonder if that will impact the approval if I apply?

So just to be 100% clear:

My last Sapphire bonus (100k Sapphire Reserve) was received in a statement with a closing date of 11/21/2016. Does this mean I can apply for the card now, not meet the $4000 spend until after 11/21, and still get the 80k points? Can I still keep my Sapphire Reserve?
No to both questions. The terms say that the card (the "product") isn't available to you if you got a Sapphire sign up bonus in the last 48 months. You wouldn't get approved until after November 21, 2020.

You would also need to have closed your Sapphire Reserve or product changed it to a different card before applying, since you will not be approved for the Sapphire Preferred if you have the Reserve open at the time of application.

Thanks for the clarification and saving me a hard inquiry!! Guess I'll just have to sit this one out.

so i got this offer for my wife. once we get the 80K points, it looks like I can transfer them to my Chase Sapphire Reserve and they'll be worth $1200 in travel? is that right? I can do that?

Technically $1105 after the $95 annual fee, but yes you've got the right idea.

Most of the people on here received the reserve bonus as early as 2016, so they wouldn't be eligible?
Do you know when the CSR was released with the 100K offer?

1. This will go frontpage soon as long as slickdeals gets a referral commission.

2. Does anyone know for how long they will run this promo?

3. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sapphire Reserve came out with a 100K offer.

of bonus. Anyway to find out if wife had the reserve? Don't remember if she applied 4 years back, only way to see is credit report? Chase is saying they can't see it on her account, might have been purged.

So I stupidly applied for some store credit cards this year that I think has put me over 5/24. Not very familiar with this rulebut which credit report do they pull?

Approved cards 2020:
Southwest rapid rewards
Best Buy visa
Apple Card
Costco Citi Visa
Bofa Cash Rewards
Amex Gold
Amex Green

Do the best Buy and apple card count towards 5/24?

not only travel. currently you can apply them (using pay yourself feature) to groceries, home improvement, restaurants, etc...all at 1.5X with the reserve

supposedly it is to be extended

edit;
though I wonder if Chase will not extend it and timed this so people wouldn't use those 80k points that way
