For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

PLEASE stop using initials & jargon and use plain English instead. At least I know what BTW means.
Wrong. 4 years from the statement close date of the month in which you received the BONUS. NOT when the card was opened.

"Chase will match higher sign up bonuses if you notify them within 90 days of applying. If you apply for a card with a 30,000 point sign up bonus and then within 90 days Chase increases that bonus then call them or send them a secured message, they will match you to this higher bonus. If the annual fee is higher on the bonus you are requesting to be matched to, then they will often deny you this match. If they approve you, then you'll keep the lower annual fee as per the CARD act rules."

You first receive a bonus, and then become eligible for bonus again (after meeting the $4K spend requirement)
OR
You first receive a bonus, and then apply for a Sapphire card again?
Worst: You can redeem the points for 1 cent per point as statement credits. So 80,000 points gets you an $800 statement credit.
Right now they're letting you redeem for 1.25 cents a point against spend in a couple of specific categories to try and make up for how little travel is happening... CSR is doing the same at 1.5 cents a point- Categories are
Grocery stores (includes eligible delivery services).
Restaurants (includes takeout and eligible delivery services).
Home improvement stores.
Select charitable organizations.
Ok, next after that is the Chase Travel portal... you can book travel through their portal and get 1.25 cents per point redeemed (1.5 cents per point with a CSR).
Lastly- transfers which potentially offer the highest value- Chase has a bunch of airline and hotel partners you can transfer your points (usually 1:1) into the points used by that airline or hotel chain.
You can OFTEN get 2-2.5 cents a point in value this way for coach flights or Hyatt hotel rooms.
You can OFTEN get 3-6 cents a point in value this way for business class flights
You can OFTEN get 7-10 cents a point in value this way for first class flights.
I say often because it'll vary somewhat by specific airline, specific route, specific destinations, specific time/dates, etc.... if you have at least moderate flexibility in your schedule though it's usually pretty easy to beat the hell out of the 1.25 cents in the portal with transfers.
Obviously right NOW all that's kinda out the window since most countries won't even let americans in, and domestic flights are practically being given away by domestic airlines desperate for any passengers.
By far the best redemption are the Hyatt and Southwest. The rest of the travel partners are not worth it. With United you need at least 25K for a round trip anywhere and thats limited. Most of the time you can find a round trip for $250 or less so the 25k is not worth it.
Southwest uses a different point model and if you have companion pass, it makes your points instantly double.
I still have tons of Southwest points so I saved all my Chase pts for Hyatt.
