It's 4 years since receiving the sign up bonus.
You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.

For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

Anyone had any luck with them applying the promo retroactively? Literally missed it by a week.

This is a great summary for the noobies out there.
By far the best redemption are the Hyatt and Southwest. The rest of the travel partners are not worth it. With United you need at least 25K for a round trip anywhere and thats limited. Most of the time you can find a round trip for $250 or less so the 25k is not worth it.
Southwest uses a different point model and if you have companion pass, it makes your points instantly double.
I still have tons of Southwest points so I saved all my Chase pts for Hyatt.
Hyatt and Southwest are the most consistently strongest redemption options - the $1,400 all-inclusive resort night in Big Sur for 24k Hyatt/UR points was a particularly nice one. Marriott and IHG transfers shouldn't be under consideration for anyone unless they need a small number of points to top off those accounts for a specific redemption, but United isn't as bad a value as you think it is. If you are only flying coach between hubs (think SF/LA/NYC/DC/Chicago) then usually you will be better served paying cash or redeeming points through the Chase portal. Travel to/from smaller airports or last-minute flights makes the partner transfer more valuable, not to mention the usual thing that fuels the super high alleged valuation of airline points - international premium class travel

Thank you for your post! I was approved for the card on 9/5, and just sent a Secure Message to Chase requesting that they match the 80K offer.
My pleasure and good luck. Also make sure you visit the Doctor of Credit website (excellent for financial information) which is also keeping a track on Chase's position. Apparently, for this 80K offer, it has been a mixed bag in terms of Chase's reponse.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/so...er-8-2020/

"(While not the topic of this post, the issue of matching signup bonuses is odd in that Chase used to always match within 90 days, and this time around it seems most people are so far being denied a match, with only a few able to get matched.)"

Also see the comments in that link. If Chase doesn't match, complain to Doctor of Credit and they might pursue it.

Why is Hyatt one of the best partners to transfer points to?

For those whose application was pending when they applied, and assuming you did not call Chase, how long did it take for you to hear of an approval/denial? Was it via email, phone or mail? Thanks.

does that mean fewer Hyatt points needed for redemption?

Often times, you get better value out of UR. Nonetheless, you need to find the Hyatt property that matches your need and evaluate if the transferring UR points makes a better point value compare to the direct booking via UR portal using CSR/CSP redemption rate.

Correct. It depends on the property - and whether Hyatt has a footprint where you want to travel, but the # of points needed for a redemption is much lower than for other hotel chains for similar quality/tier properties, and often even a better value than redeeming UR points through Chase portal at a 1.25/1.5 CSP/CSR multiplier.

As an extreme example, my wife and I recently stayed at the Ventana resort in Big Sur. An all-inclusive resort with a base cash rate of $1,500/night after taxes & fees, which I was able to book for a net rate of 24k Hyatt points (30k points/night - the current 25% Hyatt points rebate promotion). A couple years ago, we stayed at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Berlin - 15k points/night for a 5-star downtown hotel, with rooftop pool & patio + spa/sauna. In comparison, similar 'quality' + location hotels are 50k-60k Hilton or Marriott points/night. When compared to other similar, major hotel chains like Marriott and Hilton, Hyatt redemptions typically require 2-3x fewer points.

If you like traveling, you need hotels right ?? And Hyatt is by far has the best point value.
On average, Hyatt pts are worth 2 cents vs 1.5 even if you redeem them through the Reserve(Preferred is only 1.25).
On one of my example, I satyed at the Paris Etoile last year for 15k/night. It would have cost me just over 500 Euros per night to stay there which is about $550 US. That's more than triple what the points are worth.
I only stay at high end hotels on special occasions. Most times I use my Hyatt pts for Hyatt Place. I'd say around 70% of Hyatt Place cost only 8k points. As you know most Hyatt Place are well over $100 n+ tax and fees. Free breakfast at all Hyatt Place too.
Another PLUS for using Hyatt are the taxes and resort fees(if any) are included. If the only cost 8000 points, its 8000 points.
When ever we plan out a vacation, I actually look ahead to see what Hyatt are available before I choose to go on that vacation. I don't think I've paid for a hotel room in about 15 yrs.
Between me and my wife, I almost make sure we don't run out of Chase points.

Ha they've got you good.It takes effort to accumulate those points and always makes you think of them first when planning an outing for convienence or saving $.Now they've created loyalty so you might not even think about so many other options to be had with cash.Takes a lot away imo and keeps you working for the supposedly free nights you think you got.

Thanks. An issue I've always had with airlines, even when planning ahead, is general availability, reasonable cost in terms of miles, and dates of travel. And, because of this, I rarely get a value of 1 cent for 1 mile. While I understand that Hyatt has good value, does it have issues with availability?

I would say yes. Only the Chase Sapphire Reserve had a higher promo of 100K (in 2016). This 80K offer is only valid until Nov 8. The second bets offer I believe was 60K with the $95 fee waived for the first year.
