It's 4 years since receiving the sign up bonus.
You have to wait 4 years since opening the first one before you can get another.
The application date or the card open date doesn't matter. What matters is the date that you received the sign-up bonus. That date is probably the closing date of the statement in which it was awarded to you.

For example, if you met the minimum spend for the sign up bonus in the first month the card was opened, the statement closing date was probably October or November 2016. If you met the minimum spend in the 3rd month that the card was opened, then the bonus may have been awarded in January or even February - again, depends on the statement closing date. You can check your first few statements in that account to know for sure.

Just applied and it said they will get back to me with a decision. Anyone know how long this takes? Well within 5/24 and have good credit score

Call the recon line and get it resolved immediately. Usually it involves moving a credit limit around if you have multiple Chase cards. 888-270-2127

My credit score is 848 (with no new cards opened in over 5 years) and I too got that message. Called and they just wanted to know why I wanted yet another Chase card. Moved part credit from another Chase card to this one and was approved. Got my card the next day and 8 days later had spent the full $4K.

Once you get approved (which should be immediate once you call unless there are problems that cannot be resolved) ask to have the card expedited. You will get it overnight.

Chase card for promotional pricing offers, are not eligible for a second Chase credit card with promotional pricing.
And what does this mean objectively? If you get a Chase credit card with a promotional offer, get the bonus and cancel after 3 months, or 6 months, or 12 months or 24 months or 36 months........in which of these scenarios are you violating their rule?

Question about eligibility. I read some of the thread so sorry if it's been asked already

The last sapphire (reserve) bonus I got was on my oct 2016 statement. Does that mean I make the cut off point?

If I do, I just downgrade the preferred to freedom and apply for the preferred after a week? I'm worried that I'm missing something that chase will use as an excuse to not honor it

Does having a sapphire reserve exclude my from getting the sapphire preferred bonus?

That is correct. As long as you are 48 months past the exact date in 2016 that your October statement was dated, you are fine.

And what about having a sapphire reserve already, does that exclude me from getting the bonus points

Yes, it does. You do need to downgrade any existing Sapphire cards to a Freedom-series card and then wait a week.

That's stupid info from the Chase rep.... this is from the Chase referral site I clicked on from my wife's Preferred card. I am not on her card and I only have a Freedom in my name. I want to have her refer me to get the card for 80,000 points and her to get 15,000 points. I'm curious if there is a restriction on referring a spouse or child in the same residence. It will be my own card (she won't be a user on it).

You will get the 80K and she will get the 15K. There are no restrictions like that.

Is the 48 month period the time difference when I got the last bonus and the current application or when this new bonus posts? Also, do you know how I could find out the date when I get the bonus in the past. I don't have that card anymore.

Nevermind - I just found my application date - March 2017 - so looks like I will not be eligible in any case Frown
