Only $50 off and you roll the dice with Newegg's customer service.
Benchmarks already came out for RTX 3080. Less than 1% improvement in gaming with PCI 4. 10700k/10900k still crush the 3900x PCI 3 or 4 except at 4K where it all is the same.
I guess the question is "why?" And that's more a retort meant for the Intel fanboy than your strategy. It's one thing if you wanna lag a generation or two for the cost:performance ratio. Not much to argue against there. But I'm not entirely sure why people are concerned gaming-wise when it comes to obsolescence with the current generation of hardware. Now more than ever, it's going to be about min-maxing efficiency and accessibility over missing out on any sort of meaningful performance.
4K PC gaming, ray-tracing, streaming and all are pretty much here for anyone who cares enough or is able to invest in a medium ranged build. Higher speed NVMe's will render loading times all but obsolete before developers ever decide it's a better idea to increase open world graphical demands to the extent they would needlessly bottleneck the current generation of CPUs and GPUs.
If not already, high-end PCs will pretty much exclusively be a status symbo. I know it's been overhyped year after year, but this really is pretty much it. We're at the pinnacle as far as naked-eye graphical performance goes for a widely accessible price point. Until we get some legit Tron level shit going IRL, I don't think there's much that's gonna happen where if you can comfortably afford it, there's much reason to not just do it.

For gaming I would stick with intel especially if you plan on grabbing a 3000 series card . Both platforms will be obsolete in a year when amd drops the am4 socket

Was planning to get a 10700k to play FS2020 at 4k with the 3080.... are you saying there's no difference between Intel & AMD for that
Combos and Kits include two or more items that must be purchased together in order to receive a discount. Items sold as part of a Combo or Kit may be returned individually for replacement within the applicable Newegg Return Policy Period for that individual item.
If an individual Combo or Kit item is returned for a refund, the applicable discount will be voided, and the discounted amount will be deducted from the amount of the refund. If your Combo/Kit discount amount is greater than the individual unit price of the item you wish to return, then the item cannot be returned for a refund by itself; you will need to return all items in the Combo/Kit or return it with other items of value in order to receive a refund. For example, if your Combo/Kit discount was $5, and you return one of the items for a refund, the $5 will be deducted from your refund amount.

no 4k here. just gaming on 1440p. still rocking a 1080 with 7700k
678 total. The 10850k hit 5.0 on air with a noctua dh n15. But it needs about 3.3v to be stable, gets very hot. Turned it down to 4.9 all core with 1.28v. Nice and cool now. These don't oc as well as the 10900k. Ever so slightly worse. 2%

Maybe i'll just pick up the new GPU and wait for next years release of tech

What's the logic of sticking with Intel for gaming?
I've been considering amd since even a ryzen 2600 meets most of not all gaming needs and is way cheaper.
