Dang..that's a lot of coffee cups to drink to recoup the cost.
90% of the time, you are comparing this to a starbucks drink. I would say add the benefit of time. I would imagine that, if you were buying this, you are a high earner. To keep things simple, lets say you make $104k/yr. At 2,080 hrs, thats $50/hr. I would have to imagine Starbucks takes 10 mins. That is factoring the time of pulling in, ordering, waiting, leaving and losing all that single motion of just driving buy. So, 10 mins equates to $8.33. Lets say your drink costs $3.50. That is probably low, but lets say that factors into the cost of the drink you make at home (my guess is the average drink is $4, and I am sure you can make the same drink at home for less than $0.50). So, including time, you save $11.83/day. At 5 times a week, that is $59/week, or over $3k a year.
So yes, from a monetary POV, it will take you a while. But, if you put a value on your time, its much quicker.

Forget all that. This will taste better with the right beans.
I have 2 Micro 1's, a micro 9 and a Decent DE1. The jura's have pulled thousands, maybe even 10k combined shots over the years and have never had a problem with any of the three. Highly recommended if you want a one button superautomatic.
I was waiting for this sale to buy the S8. Two people working from home

thank you for this comment. I was actually waiting on this to go on sale to pull the trigger. Two adults working from home with two kids under 3, I value my time immensely.
Anyone care to share their experience with this machine or Jura in general? We like espresso and milk drinks but have zero time or patience to pull shots ourselves.

Jura's are great. Only issue I had with them is that over time, they tend to get clogged and don't have a great system of being able to completely clean the machine without either sending it in for service or voiding the warranty. Ended up getting a different machine made by meile from Costco. They have a much better system of being able to take apart the entire unit and giving it a good cleaning. It's not as fancy as this unit but is a bit cheaper.
FYI the milk system is reviewed much higher with the meile system as well.

I have the Breville Barista Express. Its not that time consuming, but again I am making Americanos 99% of the time. Its not hard to pull a shot. You can actually set the measurement of how much to grind, and from there you just push and release and it does it on its own., Then, you just have to press it in and move it over. I pull two double shots, and it maybe takes a minute of work, maybe.
I like the build of it. If I had a choice between the Jura (having 0 knowledge of it) and the Breville Oracle (equivalent), I would have no problem taking the Breville just from my experience with my machine.

I've heard about the cleaning issues with Jura. I was looking at the Meile when one went on sale a couple months back. I'm having paralysis by analysis, again!
**update**
Cancelled my order for the Jura and ordered the Miele CM6350 instead. I like the ease of cleaning and the review on Seattle Coffee Gear. Thanks!

EXACT same reason why I went with the Miele CM6350 as well; her review! Plus it's Costco. If you don't like it, just return it. Enjoy bud!
Yeah, the newish Philips/Saeco 2xxx/3xxx machines seem like really good contenders for the price. If they prove to be reliable they would be very good options.
anyone here thats had experience with Jura machines have any opinion on this vs the z6 model that went on sale recently on costco (maybe a month back)? I got the z6 for 2500, but tempted to return and buy this since its a $500 savings on essentially the same type of machine. Only difference i see is the touchscreen only on this one (which seems like it might be a bit laggy) vs a mix of some physical buttons and a non touch screen on the z6.

You have to put water in it.
You have to put coffee in it.
You have to put your cream/sugar (if you do that).
You have to pickup the coffee cup to drink it.
So, how is this any different than any other coffee maker, except about $1500 more expensive than a good Breville?
