It was very easy to see an option for those that don't have a .EDU address; it's clearly stated right on the site in the post's link: "No .edu email? No problem.
Click here to learn how you can still qualify. Offer terms apply." That link takes you to an option that uses the promo code "non_edu_promocode", which worked fine for me. Perhaps "Fundamentals of Reading Web Pages" should be a mandatory course.

Just a note that I had to add exceptions to my ad- and tracking-blockers to get through the "onboarding" process and to go through the cancellation ordeal.

The site is clearly designed to be misleading in a lot of ways (four steps to cancel, each of which makes you think you're making a terrible, irreversible mistake). As many others have stated (thanks!), you can "cancel", and you'll still receive your free year. I'd recommend that everyone do this immediately. They're clearly planning to make a lot of money off students who forget and will be charged $180 in a year.

I canceled right after signing up will continue to have access for one year.

Also, this is from their TOS: "You may cancel a Recurring Subscription at any time, but if you cancel your subscription before the end of the current subscription period, we will not refund any subscription fees already paid to us. Following any cancellation, however, you will continue to have access to the service through the end of your current subscription period.

the promo code you should see is "edu_promo" (or at least is the one I got). Then I cancelled and says active until the date below. Hope I get the chase offer on top of this!

Sep 17, 2020 – Sep 17, 2021

Annual Pass - US × 1 $180.00

Subtotal $180.00

edu_promo ($179.00 off) -$179.00

Amount paid $1.00

Thanks. I canceled. Sign up mobile site. Canceled mobile app. The idea is simple. People will forget and need to pay.

My son got this offer some time ago. Took the Gordon Ramsay class- was actually REALLY good! I'm a decent chef, but some of that stuff was really creative. Eggs poached in red wine, pomme puree, crispy duck...lots of simple and impressive techniques. Loved it!

Wouldn't mind checking out the Steve Martin class too.

+1, thanks! I have a valid .edu address, but decided to use this to associate my login to a personal account that isn't controlled by my school!

Worked like a charm for .edu email even if you are alumni.
I used my Visa gift card to pay so that even if they try to charge extra it won't work next year.

P.S. better to cancel the subscription before it ends. I did it immediately and it will remain active till 2021 Sept which is great.

Go to Menu, then Settings. Scroll down to the subscription section and at the bottom right corner you will see "Your subscription will automatically renew on xxx". There's a cancel button right below
