You're using a drill to remove lugnuts? Thats your first problem.

FOR THE WARRANTY, ADD YOUR RECEIPT TO YOUR LOWE'S ACCOUNT AND KEEP EVERYTHING IT CAME WITH!!! (Including the bag and whatever else is inside the bag...)

The warranty on this is great, it's a 5-year warranty (for the tool, 3-year for the battery). If you don't add it to your MyLowes account (or save the receipt), they're not obligated to fulfill the warranty.

I got lucky last fall. The bit-less chuck went out in mine and the bits were almost IMPOSSIBLE to remove after doing the most basic jobs with it. I went to my local Lowe's and they saw that the date code was less than five years old, however it still needed a manager's approval and override. Even with the approval and override, I had to go back home to get everything it came with.

Regardless, I was jumping for joy that they warrantied it for me and promptly added the receipt to my account.

As a side note, when she took in the defective drill she gave me store credit (merchandise card maybe??), so I'm curious as to whether or not they would warranty my new one if it died. It looks like a normal store purchase on MyLowe's with no reference to the warranty exchange, so I'm guessing it has a brand new 5-year/3-year warranty.

I have never, in a dozen drills, had one I think would remove lug nuts. But I do respect this new higher standard for the expectation of what a drill can do.

I get there is also an impact driver here, to be clear an impact driver is NOT an impact wrench, as badly as every Harry Homeowner wants them to be.
Pneumatic impact wrenches are awesome. I have a Kobalt 700 from a car suspension project and that thing is a beast.

on par with Ryobi brand, assuming similar 24v and such specs??? I have been waiting for Ryobi deals and stick with only that brand for simplicity in terms of utilizing same batteries. And Ryobi seems to have lower prices vs dewalt, ridgid, milwaukee...

where did you find this code? Does this type of code work in store [perhaps at customer service counter]?
Found it on one of those coupon savings sites, not sure if I can mention the name here.

I came to ask the exact same things so thanks and repped to you both. One more question it is easy to return things to lowes?
Just give them a good reason for your return and they should take it if it's within 90 days.

people mention this all the time, but in a bit coded way & not include direct links. ex: *bates , *frugal

Also, any indication that it can be used in store?

That is also good when considering the value of the Kobalt batteries. 24v 4Ah battery will be roughly the same size as a 18v 5Ah. So the Kobalt batteries are a better value.
Keep in mind that the 24v is measured with a fully charged battery without a load on it, while 18v tools actually operate at 18v. The comparable operating voltage of that 24v battery is closer to 21v.

21v * 4ah = 84 watt hours of power.
18v * 5ah = 90 watt hours of power.

You sure? They are still calculating Ah's by dividing the Wh by 24vs. So the Kobalt claims 96 Wh's so if you divided by 21volts you get 4.5 Ah's

Would it go through thin concrete easily? And what about stucco - Want to hang a couple lights along my home exterior.
It absolutely ZIPS through concrete and mortar with the correct masonry bit. the Kobalt 24v line is really great, and this hammer drill is a beast. I bought mine as a standalone for $100 because I needed it for a specific job. I already have 4 Kobalt drills and drivers... still tempted to buy this set!

I noticed the drill is a hammer drill. Is it fine to use the hammer drill as a normal house hold drill?

I have 3 of each as well as the impact wrench with 2 sets purchased years ago and the last set purchased last year with the newer manufacturer/models. The newer models are utter crap compared to the older ones and don't generate the same torque/force/speed as the older ones and the drill has already started to give in. And yes I tried using both 4/5-Ah batteries. If you can find the old model and old stock - possible they still exist somewhere - I would go with those.

Yes, in fact it is 10x better! It has different settings (numbers on the dial behind the chuck) to help prevent over-torquing things (that lead to things like stripped screws or split wood). There is also a setting for it to act as a standard drill (just rotate the dial all the way to the drill setting), but I have only used it once or twice.

Keep in mind, this is not an SDS hammer drill (the heavy duty expensive drill with specialty bits).

Should be fine. There should be a switch near the chuck that changes it from regular drill to "hammer action".

I'm just saying, in any calculations, you need to compare like voltages. Choose either operating voltage or MAX voltage.

24v is a MAX voltage (fully charged without a load).

18v is the operating voltage of batteries that measure 20v when fully charged without a load.

24v (MAX) times 4ah is 96Wh
20v (MAX) times 5ah is 100Wh
