FOR THE WARRANTY, ADD YOUR RECEIPT TO YOUR LOWE'S ACCOUNT AND KEEP EVERYTHING IT CAME WITH!!! (Including the bag and whatever else is inside the bag...)

The warranty on this is great, it's a 5-year warranty (for the tool, 3-year for the battery). If you don't add it to your MyLowes account (or save the receipt), they're not obligated to fulfill the warranty.

I got lucky last fall. The bit-less chuck went out in mine and the bits were almost IMPOSSIBLE to remove after doing the most basic jobs with it. I went to my local Lowe's and they saw that the date code was less than five years old, however it still needed a manager's approval and override. Even with the approval and override, I had to go back home to get everything it came with.

Regardless, I was jumping for joy that they warrantied it for me and promptly added the receipt to my account.

As a side note, when she took in the defective drill she gave me store credit (merchandise card maybe??), so I'm curious as to whether or not they would warranty my new one if it died. It looks like a normal store purchase on MyLowe's with no reference to the warranty exchange, so I'm guessing it has a brand new 5-year/3-year warranty.

Thank you so much OP! Saved an additional $20 thanks to Aqua.

I wanted a pair of Makitas, but I dont think they'll ever drop this low. So glad I'm getting this though.

Thanks A LOT!! I ended up not getting the drill, but I have a garden project I'm working on and used it for that. I want the hammer-drill, but don't need it and I have already gotten into the Ryobi tools. Thanks again!

I am no electrician, I honestly want to know. I thought the Watt Hours was the capacity regardless of the voltage. And that you will get the ah by dividing by the voltage drawn. So if the tool doesn't actually draw 24 volts then the ah is should be higher than stated, no? Are you saying that the 18v tools claim that thier 100wh batteries are 5ah?
Sorry for the confusion and I am in no way making claims about what manufacturers say since the ways that the various manufacturers present voltages are different.

My point is that if you are trying to compare watts (volts x amps) or watt-hours (voltage x amp-hours) between different brands that you need to be using the same type of voltage numbers.

If you are using the 24v MAX (fully charged without a load) figure for Kobalt, then you shouldn't be using the 18v (actual operating voltage) figures from other manufacturers in making comparisons.

Roughly speaking, 24v MAX is 21.6v operating voltage and 20v MAX is 18v operating voltage.

Unfortunately, I am still confused. My initial comment was saying that Kobalt was calculating their ah by 24 v so their 4ah battery is actually similar to an 18v line of tools 5ah battery. But you are saying that a 90 watt hour 18v 5ah battery is actually bigger than the Kobalt 96 watt hour, 24v 4ah battery because of the way Kobalt is reporting their voltage?

Some tools are marketed at actual operating voltage while others use MAX (fully charged and unloaded) voltage.

If you are using the fully charged unloaded voltage of one battery, then you need to use the fully charged unloaded voltage of the other battery to make a fair comparison.

18v tool batteries are actually 20v when fully charged and unloaded.

24v*4ah=96Wh
20v*5ah=100Wh
