Is there a reason why this is so cheap? I bought one the other day at eBay for a tad more than $30 and I thought I got a great deal. Haven't put much stress test on it, mainly been using it as a fast thumb drive
just another old drive close out. I got one back in 2016 and thought i got a deal at 118.00

what do you mean? cable not reliable?
He means you were running the benchmark on your internal SSD. There's no way this drive is that fast.

Just came from there. There were 6 available. I was going to get the remaining left, but another SDer asked for one as the lady was getting it behind the glass.

I stopped and got one. Dude at the counter wanted to play dumb at first, but quickly realized how specific my question was... About the "$15 SSD"
he opened up his drawer and handed me over one of them. we both nodded heads at each other and went our separate ways. lol
it felt as if, he was playing dumb to customers all day but finally decided to share one off his head stash...maybe just out of respect for my no-bs question. lol

Picked up a 480gb for $15.

Got it home. CrystalDiskMark showed 400mb/s read and about 380mb/s write.

I copied from my C: drive, which is a mid-range NVMe SSD a 30gb video file. It putted along at ~320mb/s. I then changed the name of the same file and copied it to the drive as well without deleting the original. Oddly, it started out about 30-40 mb/s for about 20 seconds and then started to pick up speed until it got to about 310 mb/s and took a total of 1m47s to write. I then repeated this process a third time. It once again started slow but picked up speed to 300mb/s plus. It took a total of 1m41s to write.

Neither time did the SSD feel hot to the touch. So far so good.

6 in a store near me, but based on reviews there is a big reason these are so cheap. I'll just wait for a more reliable brand to go on sale.
I was able to get 8. The cable is a little tricky to get on straight. When you have it on correctly you hear a click. I plan on just leaving the cable on. Ordinarily you do not full format an SSD. However in this case I deleted the volume, created a new one and then did a full format (unchecked quick format) One of the drives had a little something extra on it that caused the process to stop. However, after a couple of attempts it completed. I think alot of the complaints are due to the cable and not taking the time to properly set up the drive.

I bought 5 of these thinking they're shuckable. Opened one, which I'll keep for the heck of it. Have 4 left that I'll either return or ship to someone that makes a half decent offer. PM if interested...

Where are the links to the bad reviews? Why are these "trash", just because they are older tech? They are priced like older tech, right?

Dont understand why yall are going crazy for these. Its not a big deal, and theres no money to be made for reselling.

Dont go out and buy 10 x of them because you'll regret it.

Just get a couple for personal use/gifts. Thats what I did.

I remember back in April, when someone posts a YMMV deal, no one wants to come out to hunt. Now we have millions of cases, we are excited about this kind deal and cannot wait to hit the store.
