I bought a $10 sim online and chose Magenta plan. However, Tmobile gave me a number. How can I port in a number since Tmobile already assigned one for me? Thanks

That's normal. All new lines will get an assigned number. Just call T-Mobile to port-in a new number. T-Mobile will want to know the number that's going to be replaced (the one they assigned to you) and the number you want to port-in to replace their assigned number. They also ask for the account # and account pin associated with the port-in number.

So if you haven't signed up for any other promotions (like a phone promotion) on that free line, you can take advantage of this offer on that line and avoid the $35/mo line cost. Otherwise some people seem to be signing up for accounts just to get $250/line and will cancel in 2 months (after paying 2 months of service) after they get their prepaid MC.
I actually did take advantage of free iPhone offer on that free line.

During the online ordering, simply got an error: You are still a Sprint customer...no other option after that.
Same happened to me.

After sleeping on this one mode day, I decided to pull the trigger. Got four numbers, secured Hookup code (thanks, Reddit!), registered one of the four numbers on the "Insider" portal. Order for 4 lines (Magenta) has been placed; they are supposedly shipping SIMs "Ground" and not the Second Day Air as some mentioned. Will see. (*)

Hoping it all works out. And yes, I do happen to have four older phones I can use (two Nexus 5s, one LG Artisto, and one Pixel 2).

(*) UPDATE: received follow-up call and spoke with an agent. She bumped my shipment to "Second Day Air". Cool!
Hahaha Nice. I got it done just now too! Same boat as you! When do plan on porting in and submit rebates?

I am definitely waiting until all the porting is complete and my new T-mobile account is properly set up. I don't think there is a reason to rush things (purposefully got ATT numbers with 21 day expiration date). Hopefully, the SIM cards get here by the weekend (Friday?).

Got my SIM cards ordered using TForce via Twitter, so got it all documented. He gave me the 4 sim cards for $20 total, no service fee, and expedited overnight shipping. Pretty cool.

I ended up with extra AT&T phone numbers that I'm not going to use. If anyone needs one, I'll send them for $5 AGC

The rebate just ask to select which line to file, which I select the new line. It did not ask for the port-in number.
Thanks, but don't they check if the line you filled is the one with the Peter in number?

I'm a current Tello user with my unlocked Note 10+ phone.. would I be eligible to port-in to this T-Mobile service and get the $250 prepaid?
Tello is Sprint MVNO so no go. Buy no from ebay to port and you can use your phone. Put your number to Google voice for $20 or textnow for free.

To those who already have T-Mobile account with one or more working lines, and ordered SIM(s) to port one or more numbers and received it/them via mail: do you remember exactly the steps you went through?

You need to call 800-789-3106 to start the porting. Besides SIM card number (or the temporary phone number), T-Mobile PIN number, phone number to be ported, account number and PIN (originating carrier), did you have to provide anything else?

It seems a credit card number might be required to validate and activate the SIM, did you have to provide that? In the same call you did to start porting the number or afterwards?

Thanks for any help.

Actually someone above just clarified that you need to port the number in first BEFORE you file the rebate. I think he's right.

you guys are opening new accounts and 4 lines as extra lines just for profit? Or actually switching to tmobile? if just for profit, do you guys plan to dump the lines after a month or two once the rebates comes through?
