I have 3 Dohm, depending on how you use them their motors burn out, they continue to work but start to smell and wobble 🤷 ♂️ I've wanted to switch to a digital one for a while. But the expensive HomeMedec crap will in the middle of the night flip out and wake you up with some random horrible noice instead of the one it was set too, that's how I switched to the Dohm...

As a musician, I can nearly always hear the loop repeating on recorded noise and "sleep sound" samples, and it tends to keep me awake. I use a mechanical one like the marpac at home, and the ios app MyNoise when traveling. At this point I don't sleep well without one.
Side note: One of the offices for my previous employer was a large high-ceiling open office, with a white noise generator hanging from the ceiling every 10 feet. Between struggling to stay awake, a doubling of coffee breaks and the resulting uptick in bathroom pitstops, my productivity was much reduced when I worked from that office.
Yeah I don't get these sound generators unless you have some aversion to a smart speaker like Echo; We use Echo devices for the kids' rooms and typically the Amazon Echo/Alexa app, or any of a number of other sound apps when traveling.
I use a standalone device for travel. It just sounds way better than my phone. I also use my Google home for white noise, but have you ever had your internet go out in the middle of the night. It's happened a few times and I always wake up from the sudden loss of white noise. Just thought I'd give my perspective. I have never used this particular device
