Westerns are a genre that is greatly improved with modern cinematography. Both the newer versions of True Grit and the Magnificent 7 are better than the originals, in both acting and dialogue.

not too many times i can have a movie that i love be re-done and in the end love both movies so much that i cant pick a favorite.

The 2010 version is so amazing. Jeff Bridges and Hallie Steinfeld really knocked it out of the park. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. If I actually collected physical discs, I would buy this.

I agree that the True Grit remake was better. I think that has more to do with the Coen brothers, Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld, and Matt Damon than with advances of modern cinematography. There aren't too many modern westerns I consider in the same league as High Noon which was made in 1952. Maybe the Forgiven, that's about it.

I think you mean Unforgiven. Western with/by Clint Eastwood. Won academy awards. On of my favorite movies.

The Forgiven is about post apartheid South Africa.
