Use Qbittorrent and bind the VPN adapter in the Advance network settings, Works with any VPN even cheap VPNs. This is you best killswitch for torrenting. You can also use your VPN's killswitch but that alone isn't 100% foolproof even among top VPN softwares like you said.
Also, you don't need to connect overseas server to torrent. If US servers supports p2p then use it. I'm in the US and always pick the closest servers for faster download speeds, never had any problem, no ISP letters/warnings.
Attached a screenshot of what I"m talking about for Qbittorrent. Also, was using OpenVPN UDP protocol of FastestVPN (a crappy VPN but does its job of torrenting). I also, have Windscribe that I switch back and forth. Never had any ISP torrent letters. My previous ISP warning letter was from 2017 that prompt me to get a VPN, I got Windscribe Lifetime VPN around then.
What a VPN does is more than just simple geo blocking. It protects your IP address.
Cheap VPN servers like this either log data during your session or leak DNS to your IP.
If you are streaming off Kodi or firestick....you want a real VPN
If you torrent, you want a real VPN
If you are just geo blocking for netflix....it does not matter what VPN you get so long as it works
I pay 30 a year for a real VPN (half off with promo code). With real kill switch. With real router configuration support...With DNS leak protection in the App. (router has it own protection via OpenVPN when configured)
I tested some of these free or lifetime and let me tell you the front end app scares the hell out of me. No way to make sure if the tunnel fails that my IP is leaked.
I
My service...once the tunnel fails...the internet goes dead...the apps go dead..I can have it terminate any app on my computer. I pay 30 a year for that alone so my IP will NEVER be seen
Cheap VPN have tunnels fail more often. That means more exposure...even if 1 second its exposed..it would be logged by your ISP or someone else looking at what you are doing. It only takes 1 second...not even that.
Get cheap on coffee...that starbucks frap venti you have everyday could pay for a better VPN with just 5 of them...over a year
To be fair though, these VPN review sites are all just paid advertising.

The company won't last long selling a lifetime sub for $12. You get what you pay for but hey it was only $12. Lots of VPN are $10/m so not that big of a loss.
I am researching them now, and that review doesn't look up to date. The review from August 2020 says "the company's Australian jurisdiction is a threat to your privacy".

Hong Kong is even worse now due to current events...
I'm not saying it is better or worse, it just calls the entire review in doubt for me. They have been moved for over a year, and the review from last month doesn't reflect that.
I have used them for a year for just altering my location.
The program is stable, works well and easily, looks nice. No connection drops and plenty of servers to choose from. I can't comment on their privacy practices, but for how I use a VPN it is well worth the $12
