What are folks using WiFi for? Does keeping it on "auto" mode not take care of all needs?

I got 2 of the refurbished woot units... one the wifi died and the 2nd the filter was reading 60% even though it appeared new. The 2nd one also will not hit its max fan level.

I'd skip these due to the common issues and how hard it is to find replacement filters

I have the same air purifier and it doea make a difference to me too! I love this air purifier! It is strong and not even noticeable when it is on and I am sensitive to noise/sound. If you have allergic rhinitis, get it! you will thank me later

The filter reading doesn't actually measure the actual filter, but is just a dumb timer. So they put new filters in for refurb, but didn't reset the filter life timer. So that tells you how long the refurb was used by the first purchaser.

At $100 with 2 years of filters included, it's almost treated like a disposable unit.

So many of the wi-fi versions have been returned and turned into refurbs. Sometimes the wi-fi won't connect from the start. Other times, it will connect and then lose the connection days later.

I wish they'd bring back the larger C535 (non-wifi) version.
C535 was definitely superior. I am bummed I didn't get more of those before they switched over to the C545. I have a connected home, but don't need WiFi for something like this if it's at the expense of less physical buttons.

Seems slick especially for the people who have to breathe all that bad air due to the fires.
Except these are near-impossible to find now in those said areas.

i bought one of the 535's and even on the low speed the fan made a very annoying whirring noise. basically made it unusable in a smaller room. does anyone that have the 545 notice that?

UV light doesn't generate ozone either. It's just a UV light the air passes through.
UV light in the range from 160 – 240 nm will create ozone from oxygen. Ozone is created by the photolysis of the oxygen molecule (O2). This will disrupt the molecule and create valent oxygen atoms (O) that will then attach to any individual oxygen molecules (O2) to create ozone (O3).

https://www.oxidationtech.com/ozo...zone%20(O3).

hopefully this helps

FYI, the filter warning is just an internal timer that they must have forgotten to reset at the factory.

Does anyone have experience using this air purifier to eliminate strong laundry detergent smell drifted through the window from a nearby drying machine exhaust?

This is a really good deal. I bought two C545 back in March fro $99 each but only came with 1 year of filter. This new promotion gives you 2 years of filters makes me want to return mine and buy again. I also bought the filter couple of months ago on Costco.com for $35 when it was on sale. Normal price is $49.99

As for the noise, I set it on auto and it's very quiet. I'm very sensitive to noise but I barely hear anything when it's on sleep mode. Wifi function works fine for me. Maybe I got lucky two units I owned don't have the Wifi issue.

For PECO customers (Southeast PA) they have a $50 rebate on energy star air purifiers. This should qualify, I've done it previously with earlier Winix models sold at Costco.

Bought one of these from Costco for $130 a couple weeks ago - hopefully I can still get a refund on the price difference. Anyone know how much time Costco gives you to get a refund on the difference?

Very happy with the product - it's whisper quiet most of the time (on auto mode), and not only reduces smoke in the air, but also -

* Goes to red alert when someone peels an orange or a grapefruit
* Goes to red alert when someone farts

The citrus I don't mind, but the latter is greatly appreciated.

Can someone confirm I can purchase this now and Costco will refund the difference over the phone next week? Should I wait?
