What are folks using WiFi for? Does keeping it on "auto" mode not take care of all needs?

I got 2 of the refurbished woot units... one the wifi died and the 2nd the filter was reading 60% even though it appeared new. The 2nd one also will not hit its max fan level.

I'd skip these due to the common issues and how hard it is to find replacement filters

I'm trying to cancel my 80 dollar refrub order. No response. On the reverse these might be hard to find in store.

Anyone have issues with the fan making squeaking noises? I bought one at Costco a while back and returned it. Wonder if I should try again.

Mine is pretty close to silent as I can expect.

Seems slick especially for the people who have to breathe all that bad air due to the fires.

I think this is the model that Woot had within the last few months. I run it every now and then. Especially after we burn something outside. I think it does help a little, although I don't think I have allergies like most people. I think on days I've sneezed a lot, using this seemed to reduce the pollen count or whatever it was that was in the air... since I didn't seem to sneeze so much after running it for a bit.

If I remember correctly, consumerreports said this model or a similar model works best on the high setting... But I wouldn't want to run it that long, because of how much power it would use.

I think for situational usage, this isn't a bad deal... Especially with 2 years of filters. I may eventually try to clean or vacuum my filters outside - to get more life out of them.

Just keep in mind what others have said... this filter type is kind of hard to find. And lots of complaints have been had with the wifi. I bought two units from Woot, and only one of them works with wifi. It works manually though, just can't for one of them adjust settings / turn it on remotely

So many of the wi-fi versions have been returned and turned into refurbs. Sometimes the wi-fi won't connect from the start. Other times, it will connect and then lose the connection days later.

I wish they'd bring back the larger C535 (non-wifi) version.

Highly recommended. Bought this same deal well over a year ago and have been so happy with it. It truly makes a big difference.

Got this for my mom after my brother tried it at his place.

My mom is 88 years old in Bayarea. Every time smoke gathers she complains of itchy throat and eyes and hard to sleep at night. These symptoms tend to last a month after the smoke clears. She's on the 12 floor in her appt. Got her two of these, one in bedroom, other in living room/kitchen area.

No more complaints, she loves it. Easy to turn on and off for her as she needs. She didn't want me to setup the auto scheduler via wifi, she prefers manual operations. As some times she don't need it on. Also, the light on this is not bad for her, she uses it as a night light(but it bothers me in my room, i had to tape the light over).

Good buy! Now we have two in our house as well. Makes a big difference during hot summer nites when you need to sleep with windows open, and its smokey air out.

I think these purifiers generate ozone, which is harmful if you have asthma.

May be a good deal short term in California wildfires but would think about long term implications.

Theoretically you can turn off the purewave feature, but winix doesn't clearly specify if that stops the ozone generation or not

The plasmawave supposedly does not generate ozone. The devices that utilize UV light will generate ozone.
