we use them almost daily, esp with grilling season. just helps us make less trips carrying the spatula/turners and other accessories + the food out to the backyard. these are also great if you have cheap paper plates that don't really hold up on their own - put them on a tray!
when we entertain, everyone gets their own tray when it's meal time and it makes much less of a mess everywhere in/out of the house really.

also, instead of using separate plates/containers for things we're taking out to the grill, my fiance has started laying the raw ingredients (bacon/other meats, veggies etc.) directly on the trays. provided you sanitize the trays after...1-2 trays takes care of things instead of maybe 6-10 bowls/plates. we still serve the food on plates/disposables because we're not heathens.
but yeah, they're basically really large, oversized plates if you think about it
