I bought it a few weeks ago when it was $661 with 1660 Ti, and spent another $50 for 8GB Ram and a 240 GB SSD. The Fan runs loud when playing some games, and didn't see much difference adjusting the settings on the Alien Control Panel. I installed a fresh copy of windows without all the Dell stuff, and the fan issue went away, although it seems to run very hot. My room feels like an oven.

My ThinkPad from 2015 has better specs and I only paid $200 more than this.

"only"

you paid 25% more dude...

that being said...I'd probably jump on this if it had a SSD

500gb SSDs are like 50 to 60 bux. Nicely speced for the price IMHO.

i guess this is an OK starter gaming setup.

But if you're going to game and perhaps stream in the future, you'd probably be better off making an investment and building your own rig. Sure, it might cost more money but you'd probably like your customized computer more than this rig.

Tech has been changing rapidly in the past few years. Better processors, lower priced 1TB SSD's instead of a general 7200rpm drive. Also the new GeForce RTX 30 series video cards...

Hard pass on this deal tbh

Thanks for posting but this doesn't feel like much of a 'gaming' rig sadly

I recently built a gaming computer. Used Dell optiplex 7010 ($50 - i5 3470, 8 gig ram, 500 hd), used asus gtx 1060 6gb ($100), 500 western digital SSD ($50 new), 450 watt PS ($50 - pulled from the pc I upgraded from).

After building 2 more similar systems with gtx 1050ti, I understand that I got the used pc and gtx 1060 a bit cheaper than the average going price. I got the 1050 for $70 and $80 each.

If there are others in for a budget build, similar ones can be had if you're patient on Craigslist and offerup. For the ones don't really follow, the gtx 1060 is a better vcard, but requires a power source. The 1050 and 1650 don't.

I've learned quite a bit building these things since quarantine!

I don't do gaming. I am looking for a quite PC for office use, it should be reliable as well. Which DELL series I should be looking at?
My current XPS is 8 years old but still pretty fast with the SSD installed. The fan is a little loud though.
