Based on the information from this thread and another community, I created a guide so that more people can hopefully navigate this deal easier and so questions won't be continuously repeated.

Because this will be a living document, I created a Google Doc for ease of updates: https://docs.google.com/document/...sp=sharing

Note: I am not a T-Mobile employee and this is my first-time doing a trade-in with a Hookup code, so I am learning alongside most people here; thus, my guide may not be fully accurate. Feel free to make suggestions for corrections if you notice any mistakes or parts that lack clarity. And if you found my guide helpful, please post a response here just so I know and will continue doing these. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Since this involves a trade-in, just want to remind folks that you can trade-in in person at a T-mobile corporate location and by doing so, avoid any surprises from mailing in your device

Starting 9/25 get a Galaxy S20 FE 5G for just $200 over 24 months via bill credits when you trade in an eligible device:

Apple: iPhone 11, XS Series, XR, X, 8 Series, iPhone 7 series
Samsung: Galaxy S10 series, Galaxy Note10 series, Galaxy S9 series, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S8 series, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S7 series
Google: Pixel 4/4XL, Pixel 3A/3AXL, 3/3XL
OnePlus: 8, 8 Pro, 7T Pro McLaren, 7T, 7, 7 Pro, 6, 6T
LG: V60 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, G7 ThinQ, V50 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ

Or get one free via bill credits when you add a line.

THIS STACKS WITH THE $200 HOOKUP CODE! Remember, only one Insider Hookup code per account, whether it's the 20% or the $200. See here for details on that promo. Please do not ask for hookup codes in this post.

Please note: This WILL NOT stack with the free line. The free line ends 9/24, and this phone promo begins 9/25. There is NO WAY to get this phone for free using the free line. Please don't bother support trying to do it.

https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-pho...-s20-fe-5g

Click the magenta text at the top of the page to see the offer for $500 off. Must be logged in to see the offer. To see the "free with add a line" offer, open in incognito. Please note the $500 off page currently says "when you add a line and trade in" but the adding a line part is a typo and not necessary.

Will tmobile be sneaky and tack on the 5G cost for the older plans?
T-Mobile isn't Verizon, 5G is free of charge on all plans even the old ones.

Lol, "as old as a Galaxy S7", and here I am with my lowly old S5 (on a custom ROM), still waiting for a worthy replacement.

From Reddit, more confirmation of this deal is here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...g_will_be/

Also, a T-Mobile Employee specifically stating that this will qualify for the Type 3 Hookup. Again, I don't think this is a lock, but this is more comfirmation:

Thanks for all of the info!!

Just so I am understanding-- I can trade in my note 9, and they'll send me S20 FE charging me $700, then I get $20.83 off my bill each month? At the end of 2 years, my phone costed me $200. Is this right?

Alternatively, I can buy a Note 20 via Samsung.com, trade in my Note 9 for $550, and get the Note20 outright just under $500.

What is an easier/better "point and shoot" camera phone, S20 FE or Note 20? Anyone know this?
Nope. You finance the phone for $29.17/mo for 2 years... Then they take off $20.83 off your bill every month for those same 2 years. So essentially, your bill increases by $7.34.

Now, if you leave T-Mobile before those 24 months are over, you'd owe the remainder of the phone and forfeit the remainder of the $500. So as an example, if you leave after 12 months, you'd have to pay T-Mobile $29.17 * 12 = $350 and you'd have forfeited $250.

How does this work? - $200 off a 5G phone for existing customers...

I'm on Simple Choice, if i upgrade and trade in a s7, i can get $500 off Plus $200 off? or just $500 since its more than $200?

Where do you get the "Insider Hookup" Code / 5G phone discount for existing customers? I'm not the account holder, but looking to upgrade & guide the account holder thru the process to get a new phone for my line.

Can someone confirm me trading in Galaxy S7 would only cost me $200 for the new S20? This is an excellent deal.

So the hook-up code doesn't do anything for existing customers, right?

Is the trade in still going to be $500 value if the device is cracked? Have an S8 that works fine (turns on, everything is functional) but the screen is cracked...
cracked screen will not be accepted

Edit: Tmo will not take it but Samsung will.

I am in exactly the same situation. I hope it works out for both of us. I love free stuff! Wave

so you can theoretically get this phone for free as an existing customer? $200 off plus $500 off if you trade in a qualifying phone? Should i try to do this in person or online. The $200 off requires a special code correct? Can i bring that code in person to a tmobile store? Sorry so confused by all of this
Yep! I recommend trade ins in-person so they can confirm it's in good condition up front, no need to mail it in. The $200 Hookup is via a code you enter into the insider website after you receive the phone. There's a SD post about the hookup you can search for or check out the r/tmobile subreddit's pinned post and discord.

There are 3 different hookup codes. Type 3 ($200 rebate for 5g phones) works with current customers. People should just take the time to say hookup code type 3 to avoid some of the confusions.

Yep, your math on the tmobile side is correct. It'll work out to $8.33/mo that you pay.

Will this offer also be available to those of us on the Sprint side?
Yes
Quote from OKAYSD :
This is not the Magenta 3rd line free, right? When will the Magenta 3rd line free end? Thanks.
Magenta third free ended when line on us started, and will return when line on us ends. Effectively the same thing for new accounts.

Can someone please post how I can get a hook-up code ? Also, do Sprint customers also get this ? TIA !
Find the other SD post about hookup, or check the r/tmobile subreddit and discord for a code. Sprint is eligible for the FE deal but not hookup.

I am also curious if they will accept a functional cracked s8+ and how much that would be
no cracked screen phones for promo trade in credits. ever.

Noob here. Have seen a lot of good deals on tmo lately. What is the cheapest plan on TMobile I can get for this to work. I have s7 on H2O $10 for 90 day pay as you go plan. Much appreciated.
Get a 20% insider hookup and you'll have the magenta plan for $56/mo (see other SD post for insider hookup how-to or check out the pinned post on the r/tmobile subreddit and discord). Then you can get a free FE on that new line you port in from H2O. May not be worth the plan price for you, most tmobile plans are only worth it with 3 or more lines.
