    There are two strips of adhesive on the wooden planks that stick to the bottom of your mattress. You can see the stickers in the pic of the bed without a mattress on it.

    I have one and I did not use the strips and the mattress does not slide off. I figure if I ever want to flip the mattress over or change the position it would be an aggravation to be sticking on there so I left it off. And I've had my bed about a year never a problem.
