There was a deal that expired yesterday on a G3 with similar specs @ $800 which was highly rated.
This offer is better in these areas:
G5 vs G3 (subjective, but subtle differences)
Ryzen 74800H vs i5 10300H (15%-ish increase in processing power)
144Hz, 300nit display ***biggest difference....might be worth it just for this***
This offer is equal in these areas:
5600M vs 1660ti (these are "equivalent"...maybe a slight nod to the 1660ti)
This offer is worse in these areas:
8GB ram vs. 16GB (though you can upgrade with 2x8 ram for around $70 with lower latency and, perhaps, increase performance over the base Ryzen-system performance (Ryzen CPUs are affected by latency more than Intel procs)
Summary:
For the extra $100 (MUCH less if you are okay with the 'open box-excellent' option at $810) you get a 144Hz, brighter screen with a little less ram in a G5 laptop.

How was the screen on the omen?

You're dreaming. No way that'll run cool and even so you'd be spending over 2K.
I think it's better. The omen is also a lot more sleeker and a thinner profile. It's almost Razer/MSI level thin
I think if you're looking to utilize the cpu/gpu to it's fullest, best look for/wait for a system with better cooling.
