Finally another Ryzen 4000 Laptop with RTX 2060 arrives and in first 17.3" form factor apart from Eluktronics. This more or less check all the boxes, 300 nits 144 Hz screen with 100% sRGB, plenty of ports, RTX 2060, big 80 WHr Battery.
I think you understand now that guy was actually blabbering rather than knowing actual facts. In most Gaming Laptops, you will see some of this type of folks claiming people to wait as if RTX 3000 Mobile cards are coming next month.
There is another issue with the 3000 cards which is their very high power consumption. RTX 3000 cards not really that much technically advanced over RTX 2000. Most of their performance coming from a huge SM count increase and die shrink using 8 nm Fabrication from Samsung. But that increases the power consumption by a huge margin. While in Desktops, that may not be a problem, under the limited power and thermal system of a Laptop, it will be wise to observe how much actual performance gain they can give when forced to run at a considerable lower Core and memory clock speed due to thermal and power restrictions.
The build should be same as the Intel model Legion 5i 17. This AMD version is very new and available for just couple of days in US. Below is the review of the 17" intel version which can give you some ideas about the design, build and thermal performance. The AMD model should have slightly better thermals due to efficiency of the Ryzen 7 4000 series.

Wow, thinking of returning my Costco MSI Raider deal I got for $1200 like 2 months ago. Anyone have any experience with the legion 5 in general? Had the y540 which was a solid device but tinkered around with the 15" legion 5 at Costco, didn't really like it. Not sure how the 17" compares to it.

The second the 15" version goes live I'm all over it. I just hope it has the 80Wh battery too.

There is a version with 80 WHr battery and GTX 1660 Ti but extremely rare to find out. Currently the whole AMD version of Legion 5 15 is unavailable in Lenovo Web Store. Hopefully they refresh it soon with the RTX 2060 version.

They're very very close machines. The Omen has a louder fan that is always on, even when idling. They're also 10-keyless.

It's literally down to the aesthetic you like more otherwise. For me, it's the Legion. A bit less flashy and gamer-y looking.

Keep them coming, can't wait to see next years offering after they phase out RTX 20 series and Zen 3.

I would go w the costco omen w faster intel 10750h processor and rtx 2070 mobile for $1399... and i did! Coming in a couple days.
One thing...i7-10750H is a very good amount slower than Ryzen 7 4800H. However, if you want a powerful Gaming machine where Graphics card plays the most important role then yes, RTX 2070 will perform better than this.
