For you and others asking about this promotion specifics, I would strongly recommend checking out the original thread for this offer, the consensus there is clearer.

https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/593558

Essentially, the Netflix credit can be applied to any account, new or existing of any type. The credit accounts for the standard plan for 6 months, totaling $77. It will account for less than 6 months if you have a higher plan (just doing the math). The credit can only be applied once to an account, so there's limited benefit to trying to "game" this deal.

If you have Netflix already or want Netflix, this essentially gets you the new Chromecast for $12, which is a great option. Just get one and enjoy 😁. Hope this helps!

EDIT: Updated with original post link and clarified thr "standard" plan. Thanks!
The fine print on the bottom says: "If you return the device within the allowable return period and have already redeemed the Netflix offer, you will be refunded $49.99 USD (cost of the Chromecast device)."

Is my math wrong? Or does that mean I can essentially get 6 months of Netflix for just $40? (a savings of $37) All I have to do is to activate the free 6-month Netflix and then return the Chromecast device)
I have a 1st and 2nd generation Shield and just got the Chromecast yesterday. As much as I love the Shield, if Kodi runs well on it (FYI I haven't even seen if I could install it on the Chromecast Android TV yet), I don't feel that I will look back.

The game changer for the new Chromecast is the simple, but perfect remote. It is the first non-official universal remote that works my TV (including input button) and soundbar. Even though it's almost identical, it blows away the Roku remote.

BTW even though it's a little more per month, I feel FuboTV is better than YTTV. Trust me, I tried them all and although YTTV was a close second, FuboTV has quite a few more channels (e.g., A&E, History etc.) and their sports channels can't be touched.

Can you add any apps you want? Was trying to solve my AT&T/HBO Max problem. HBO Max cannot be streamed through Roku and I don't want to cast it from a device to Chromecast. I can only stream it on my computer or cast it at this time.

I definitely saw HBO Max and would assume you can install any Android TV app on it and sideload any apk. I just haven't fully delved into it yet.

I've been paying Netflix for years. If I don't stock up, I'm just throwing money away $37 every 6 months.

Ordered 2. (1 to keep and 1 to return) Smilie Let's see what will happen. Smilie
It does say one code per Netflix account so you might have to create a new account every 6 months.

HBO Max is one of the apps that installs after you've indicated what services you have during initial setup. Works great.

All I can find about Netflix terms on the Google Store is this:

Quote :
Offer value may be applied to a different Netflix streaming plan under the same account; exchanges in this manner may alter the duration of the offer. Netflix price plans subject to change and the duration of the offer value may be prorated accordingly.
This in and of itself doesn't prevent applying multiple codes to the same Netflix account. I hope we figure out whether we can count on this, or if we'll have to regift.

For anyone thinking about using KODI on this: I read that there is 4.4GB of user-accessible storage. Should be OK for most KODI installations, especially if you disable caching actor thumbnails (which may be more difficult than just flipping a setting in the KODI UI; possibly will require editing text in a cfg file).

On my systems KODI caches actor thumbnails and uses 3.2GB. 1040movies and 10K+eps.

No need to sideload KODI; it's right in the built-in store, judging from AndroidTV on my Xiaomi unit.

While I'm here, it might be worth registering a few complaints I have about the Android box I'm coming from, the Xiaomi Mi S (hereafter referred to as 'XMS' to help distinguish it from the CCwGTV product most are discussing in this thread:
- XMS cannot be voice-controlled by a different Home/Nest device
- XMS's remote control is horrifically, ridiculously prone to disconnection/sync issues; it seriously is best if you never use it. I ended up switching to FLIRC +Xbox One Media Remote which works like a dream (I can PM a config that works for AndroidTV with KODI if you somehow have the same equipment)
- Twitch runs like crap on XMS if you disable the comments

What if I'm currently on the 4 screen Netflix plan. Does this offer somehow convert the 6 month 2 screen prepaid value to the 4 screen plan?

A comment earlier said, "Offer value may be applied to a different Netflix streaming plan under the same account; exchanges in this manner may alter the duration of the offer". so it sounds like, yes it can be applied but will be prorated (so presumably shorter duration). I am definitely curious if anyone on the UHD plan could confirm duration (I suspect 4mo).
