This is definitely worth considering if you're looking for a DIY Peloton. I purchased it a few weeks ago as a form of home cardio and I'm loving it. If you're moving up from this price point, you're doing so for on-board bike computers & possible built-in screens.

This is one of the more recommended bikes as a DIY Peloton. You're getting magnetic resistance, belt driven, 4 way adjustable seat, & adjustable handlebars. Throw on a cadence sensor + figure out the comparative resistance with Peloton classes and you have yourself a solid DIY Peloton.

I would have considered purchasing a Peloton, but Peloton locks you into a $40/m subscription if you purchase their bike. The same subscription you can access for $12/m if you don't own a peloton product. If you're set on a Peloton and want to save some $$, they will be introducing used models in the near future.

Tempting. We sold our treadmill last year and wife has no where to hang our extra clothes. How many hangers will this accommodate? I couldn't find that in the specs.

This model has magnetic resistance so that shouldn't be a problem.

Not necessarily true. I use one device. Cast peloton to TV using chrome cast and switch to Echelon app on the device
You literally just described using 2 devices LMAO

So everyone is buying these to use with the Peloton App? No wonder the stock is doing so well.

Peloton holds patents on the utilization of live exercise metrics with online classes + is providing an "experience" that a lot of people are willing to pay extra for.

I went with the Sunny Health for my bike, but I'm definitely long on Peloton.

Any recommendations for a beginner's cycling shoes?
I can't make any shoe recommendations, but it should be noted that this bike has caged pedals and you do not utilize cycling shoes; albeit, you can replace the pedals.

That's exactly why I'm leaning toward the Echelon. I have a Sunny and use it fine by feel but having a discrete number, relative to Peloton, could be helpful. So for the same price, do you consider the Echelon Connect Sport to be better?
Yes - far better. The Sunny had a bit more "solid" feel to it, but the echelon is not far off. The built-in electronics is what makes it far better. The quality of my workout is night and day though. With the Sunny I had the Wahoo sensors but they provided limited value. Without knowing gears, you have **zero** idea of where you are. E.g. I do the same workouts. On an off day, I may be 3 or 4 gears lower than the instructor. On a good day, 1 or 2 higher. With the Sunny, I had no clue and it became demotivating. The Echelon still has a different gear level but you can google "Peloton/Echelon conversion" and see a printable chart. At some point I will try the echelon classes but they are more expensive, so no reason to right now. I don't need to be on any leaderboard and do not need shout outs, so the Peloton will not give me that much more than my setup now.

I'd rather get the Echelon for $500. Through the app you can get cadence and resistance (no subscription required, go to the "freestyle ride").

As far as I see, this Sunny bike doesn't give you any information on cadence or resistance etc.
Where is it $500?

Peloton isn't offering used bikes until atleast March from speaking with some peloton insiders... take it with a grain of salt but you will be waiting a while, if you're fast enough some people will sell you a good 2nd or 3rd gen of Facebook for $1400 or so

It depends on how much you're going to use the bike, if it will be a daily ritual make a larger investment, if this is more of a I'm going to try it out the echelon bike or maybe diy peloton here should be okay

I bought this exact bike almost 2 months ago for $600 and it was worth every penny. If you are on the fence, go for it! Excellent bike!

I recently bought this bike instead, and like it a lot.

https://sunnyhealthfitness.com/co...e-sf-b1879

The differences
-Has Digital Monitor (most helpful for cadence when doing Peloton Digital)
-Has Pulse Monitor (Eh, I just use my Apple Watch)
-Lighter bike (88lbs vs. 125lbs)
-Lighter flywheel (30 lbs vs 44 lbs)
-Slightly lower max user weight (275 lbs vs. 300 lbs)

The price is $454.71 at the moment, and if you use the promo code "SAVE10" you can get it down to $410. Free shipping, no sales tax charged on the order either. Mine arrived within 6 days of ordering. Easy to setup too.

I think the flywheel weight is fine. Feels smooth to me when doing my workouts, no complaints so far. But I really like having the digital monitor for the cadence, and at a cheaper price, I think it's a no brainer
Can anyone else comment on the above bike vs the one in this deal?
