I purchased this doorbell on 11/20/2018 for $179.99, and it came with a one year Nest subscription and a Google Home Mini. Based on the orientation of my doorbell, the included 15-degree wedge wasn't adequate for viewing so I 3D printed a 30-degree wedge at my local library for about $2.
This doorbell has been fairly reliable and I honestly haven't minded paying the yearly subscription fee. I don't want to deal with managing the data myself and I don't want to spend effort chasing something that's free; I want something that's going to be reliable and easy. I personally see the fee as a "security system fee" because of the 24/7 recording capabilities.
The doorbell has been VERY useful for identifying creepers on my porch and in making me feel safer at/away from home. There have been incidents in my neighborhood that my doorbell was able to capture, thanks to the 24/7 recording and NOT event triggered, that have been useful to law enforcement as well.
Nest did credit users $5 when there was an interruption of service and Nest has been providing updates to the doorbell:
Package delivery/removal detection
Festive doorbell sounds for holidays (I have the sweetest video of a Girl Scout spamming my doorbell and enjoying each Christmas jingle)
All of those good things aside, there are some things that need improvement:
Better clip editing in the app (the web-based UI is FAR superior)
Ability to do 2-way communication with Echo Show and ring Echo's when the doorbell is rung (This will never happen)
Fine-tuning of person/package events (sometimes it misses them, but most of the time it catches it)
All things considered, it's a worthwhile purchase and I always recommend it to my friends who are in the market for a video doorbell. I'm hoping that during Prime Day/Black Friday the other Nest Camera products go on sale so that I can have 24/7 recording around my home.

Either talk to the store service desk or submit a form online if you bought one online. Quite easy. I have done so many times before.
