Booms makes crap, and these are probably the worst of the bunch. My kids bought me this sometime back, and it was like throwing money into the water. The pliers came apart the first time I tried to use them on a split ring, and the gripper rusted to the point where it was useless a week or so after I took it onto the boat.

Not sure if freshwater would have helped, but I didn't exactly dip the stuff in saltwater either. Just straight up junk.

These are just generic items rebranded for a specific reseller on amazon right? Self promoted in this case too.

Yeah, I'm sure AliExpress has them for this price or less pretty much most of the time. I just notice that the quality varies there as well, and some resellers are better at reselling things that have some value versus just pushing junk. This brand does the latter.

The set is not great. I bought it two years ago for about $7.5. The gripper is kind of small.
