I bought one. Finally time to retire my 9 year old DS-211J that's been going strong all this time, but got too slow to keep up with newer DSM software.

The 1 Gb ethernet makes me angry, but I've been looking for a new NAS for awhile and may bite. I just wish one of the units with the expansion slot was on sale.

Incorrect. I run 4K videos through mine all the time without issue and also simultaneously had 3, 4K transcoding to 1080p streams going.

Have a 212j running. Time to bite the bullet and upgrade. 256 mb RAM on the 212j barely cuts it these days 😀

Glad I waited. Wasn't sure if this would be on sale for Prime Day. $110 off a current-model Synology NAS is pretty crazy, never seen it before.

I had a 211j but 128MB of RAM drove me crazy and I needed more space. Put a 415play (2016) in between it and now a 920+.

You can add the DX517 expansion unit to this for 9 total bays. That isn't my biggest issue with this NAS. My big issue is the lack of faster ethernet or at least an expansion slot for the faster ethernet card. Unfortunately, none of the units with that feature seem to be on sale. For this price, I'll probably live with that limitation.

i got the 1819+ about 2 months ago. i love it i installed 8 X 14TB .. ( i regret cause 16TB now are about the same price ) but live and learn....

Yeah, the 1819+ was the one I was looking at but I was afraid the 1821+ might be announced soon (like next month) so was holding off, though in all likelihood the upgrade to the 1821+ would be minor at best.
