Just a PSA for folks who are looking to get new Echo devices via Amazon Prime Day. On top of the (what appear to be) pretty decent deals on Echo devices, you can trade in your old stuff and it stacks. Obviously this is a sample size of 1 so YMMV. But definitely worth a shot if you're in the market.

For Instance:

I purchased an Echo Show 5 and traded-in an old Gen 2 Dot.

Order Summary

EDIT - I've noticed some folks experiencing issues with this. Hopefully the below helps:

1) Find the Echo device you want to purchase
2) On the right side of the screen you should see the trade-in button.
3) Select your device (if it shows up on your account) or in the text box, key in the model number and it will pull it up via the search.
4) Go through the trade in process and just accept whatever they give you (again - this is not where the big savings come in for older echo dots)
5) After you finish the trade in process prompt, go back to the page you were on with the new device you want. Add it to your cart.
6) Go INTO your cart and proceed to checkout (this is the only place you will see the additional 25% off savings and it should apply your gift card for the device you just traded in)

only getting $5 for trading in my gen 2 dot, great deal if you get a high value.

Edit: nevermind, the trade-in value is $5.00 and then you get an additional 25% off which is the -$22.50. Was able to replicate deal, $18.98 out the door, thank you OP!

Considering this was one of those free echo deals, amazing ROISmilie

I have a first generation Tap. Like the portability and the sound quality. Is there anything newer in the Echo product line that I can trade my Tap for with similar (and hopefully added) perks?

The trade in values are low but you get the 25% off a new device coupon which is what makes this a deal.

edit:
In the past they let me initiate the trade, get the coupon, use the coupon, never send the trade device, and then charged me for the amount of the gift card I had added to the account (but no problems with the coupon value). This is YMMV because some people had them try to take the coupon value back, but that did not happen to me.

It's not about the trade in value - look for the additional $22.50 off as shown in my post. That's the money line. So yes, $5 for your dot, but another 25% off the ORIGINAL price of the Echo Show.

Yea, I got it to work, thanks again! It was weird though, I went through the trade-in survey and it offered me $2.00 instead of $5.00, but when I clicked to accept, it still gave me the $5.00 instant credit.

I don't see my 25 percent off? I see th gc that is being applied but don't see the addl discount? Does it have to be sent in before I get the 25%?

In the past I was able to get the 25% off before sending in the product. Did that change?
