Just a PSA for folks who are looking to get new Echo devices via Amazon Prime Day. On top of the (what appear to be) pretty decent deals on Echo devices, you can trade in your old stuff and it stacks. Obviously this is a sample size of 1 so YMMV. But definitely worth a shot if you're in the market.

For Instance:

I purchased an Echo Show 5 and traded-in an old Gen 2 Dot.

EDIT - I've noticed some folks experiencing issues with this. Hopefully the below helps:

1) Find the Echo device you want to purchase
2) On the right side of the screen you should see the trade-in button.
3) Select your device (if it shows up on your account) or in the text box, key in the model number and it will pull it up via the search.
4) Go through the trade in process and just accept whatever they give you (again - this is not where the big savings come in for older echo dots)
5) After you finish the trade in process prompt, go back to the page you were on with the new device you want. Add it to your cart.
6) Go INTO your cart and proceed to checkout (this is the only place you will see the additional 25% off savings and it should apply your gift card for the device you just traded in)

Should show up in the cart before completing checkout. When you do the trade-in, it says it in the offer that it's credit plus the 25% off another eligible device.

Confirmed, this works. Just traded-in an old 2nd Gen Echo Dot for an Echo Show 5 for $18.84. I also want the new 3rd gen Echo Show 10 but I have more Echo Dots to trade in later.

Odd I can't trade in my Echo Dot 3rd Gen that's Charcoal I'm only seeing sandstone as a choice for trade-in.

What are people actually using the echo show devices for? I have one, but haven't found a compelling use for it. If anything, I find it distracting to have it constantly flip through ads, suggestions, and random news headlines. Really annoying to have on a desk next to a computer.

I figured out that you can turn it the screen off with a wake word, but couldn't find a setting that lets it automatically turn off the screen when idle.

It just seems to be a less useful and smaller fire tablet now that fire tablets can be used in show mode.
