I've broken a couple phones in my life, but never an iPhone....and I've had at least six of them.
He is referencing breaking the deal by paying off within 30 months and losing the remaining credits, not actually breaking the phone lol

Personally I won't get into another ATT deal that involves bill credits ever again ... I've spent the better part of the last year fighting with ATT to get bill credits on a BOGO promotion my wife and daughter did last year for the iPhone 11 ... just when I thought it was sorted out finally (which took a BBB claim btw) the credits stopped for some reason last month so now I need to start that whole process again.

Is iPhone 8 the cheapest phone that can be bought on eBay that has trade in value for $95?

I don't get it. You only get bill credits for the phone over 30 months (meaning you are tied to ATT) PLUS you have to get an expensive monthly ATT plan for the same period. So, how is it a deal? Wouldn't the cost be the the same or cheaper if you purchased the phone outright and got the Mint unlimited plan for $30 month all inclusive for the 30 month period.
Sure you can, everybody has different situation. I have my healthcare workers discount, it is worth it for me to stay with at&t with 4 lines. Unlimited with HBO max for $160. I have been with them for 6-7 years so it will not bother me to do another 30 months. Got my XR for $299 with them I believe 2 years ago.

No SE phone included. Ugh. We have one SE that is dying and need to replace it.
Which SE model? 1st Gen or the 2020 model? I'm planning on getting the full $800 for my 2020 SE since it's newer than an iPhone 8 and has at least a $95 trade-in value on the AT&T website.

Question for folks with the AT&T unlimited plan.

If you choose "AT&T Unlimited Starter", it says there is no hotspot support. Is that really true?

How would they prevent my unlocked Pixel 3a from enabling hotspot?
yes, there is no hotspot for unlimited starter plan. it doesn't work on iphones but works on my S9+, so it could work on Pixel as it runs on android OS.

i believe hotspot is made unavailable using the carrier settings. when you try to turn on hotspot, it asks to add an eligible plan (this is on iphone11)

Irony here is palpable. Google the word breakage and see where the ignorance lies. It's an accounting term first and foremost.

For those who have unlimited does AT&T throttle data often in California I am in San Francisco.

Also do you actually feel the throttling and the indicator will change from 5g to whatever?

I might consider Unlimted Starter and Extra plans

Duh because ATT and T mobile are both garbage and Verizon not desperate
All these companies had the same offers with iphone 11, in fact Verizon was the most generous giving customers $450 per line bonus in credits just for joining their network.

so you're locked into using the same phone for 30 months? is there a way to pay it off and still get the credits? fine print looks like no... right?
I have done this in the past (because I was going to travel international and needed to unlock phone). But it was a total pain in the ass and took tons of calls to retentions and escalations.
