They definitely let you know. If you choose not to read then you won't know. Also, the deal is that it's only $199 with trade in. $800 trade in for an iPhone 8 is a crazy good deal if you're interested in a new iPhone. You can also pay off the phone early (you lose part of the credit).I keep my phones for 4-5 years so this is a good deal for me.
If you pay off early, say after a month.. you are still not getting it in $199 and losing lots of money. Its a loss deal if you want to pay off in the initial months itself.

Yup. If that's a requirement then this deal isn't for you. Also, if you don't want an iPhone then this deal isn't for you. If you don't want AT&T then this deal isn't for you. If you only buy used phones then this deal isn't for you. If you choose not to have a cell phone then this deal isn't for you. If you're dead then this deal isn't for you.

I'm happy taking a 0% interest loan and using their money to buy my phone. To get the most out of this deal you have to have an iPhone 8 or newer, want an iPhone 12, stay with AT&T for at least 30 months, and don't mind paying monthly installments of $6.xx per month for 30 months.

Since you can't pay off the phone ahead of the 30 months and continue getting the credits, you more or less can never unlock it?

Will they have the 2 year contract discount for buying it outright? What would the price be?

I read every post in this thread, but still have a question .

Can you trade in your old phone at an At&t store? As in they will tell you the value right away? The horror stories of trading in via mail are a strong detractor.
+1 on this question. Got a vague answer at the AT&T store - they weren't sure whether you could do it on a pre-order. However they said once the phones are in stock, you can drop off your old phone at a B&M location within 30 days.

There are no two-year contracts with any of the major carriers anymore. Look on their website for information on plans. Super easy to find so someone doesn't have to spoonfeed you information

The only two year contract discounts are for current AT&T customers IIRC

very helpful
att.com has all details on plans. You don't need someone to look for you and report back. If you'd like that, I'd recommend hiring an assistant
