I've been following this thread from the start I wonder how/why people are swapping phones so often. Yearly? Wow, good for you. If you change your phone every 2-3 years this is the best deal. Better than any loyalty deal I've seen in the last 6 years. I honestly wonder how may people that are saying this is a bad deal are paid posters/shills from other carriers. Pathetic 2 years vs. 30 months is only 6 months for those of you that are math challenged. That's not a big difference.

I think if the plan makes sense to you this is a no brainer. For families this seems like a great deal. I'm getting my kids iPhone 12's now and a Pro for myself. My total out of pocket will be $400 for 3 new phones. Maybe loyalty will provide free cases? This will be hard to beat.

Just get a new unlocked phone from Apple and go with prepaid.
There are so many options and both speed and quality aren't bad at all.
This just sounds like a very hard way of financing an iPhone.

Just think about how much will you save when you purchase a yearly plan from any prepaid company.
Totally agree.

My Verizon Prepaid Unlimited is $50 a month after $15 off ($5 autopay, $10 loyalty).

These trade-in trade/up deals require you 24 month billback on unlimited postpaid which is about $80/month.

$30 * 24 month = $720 extra I'm paying for cellular service over 2 years for same unlimited (my area doesn't have 5G anyway).

So basically maximum you are getting $80 for whatever phone you are trading in.

I have a XS with ATT now, and I owe 5 more payments (total of $166.49).
I was planning to upgrade with them, but I'm so confused, would I be better off just paying it off and buying from Apple?

I'd be grateful for any guidance.

Which prepaid company/cards do you recommend I heard bad stories of reduce text messaging card is expiring after you buy it.

I might think about switching to pre-pay since I am a post paid for a long time but just not sure how or where to start.

How much memory capacity do you need? Which phone do you want? Details my man will help with answers. It's simple: Look at the cost of the phone you want, subtract $800. But you'll be stuck with it for 2.5 years. If that's okay, then it's an easy choice.

2 and a half years that you can't upgrade your phone. Remember, if you decide to change in that 2.5 years you're going to get slammed with full price coming due at that time.

Yes, that's the deal. If it's not a good deal for you then MOVE ON. OMG, you'd have to pay for the phone you bought. As usual, if you don't like the deal, don't sign the contract.

It also has conflicting reports on the 12 Pro Max. Apple site includes it but AT&T site does not. Considering we are planning to switch from T-Mobile for this, I need to find out whether or not the 12 Pro Max is included. Off to Twitter
Hope they can clear this up, as I am getting a mini and a Pro Max

Please read the thread. It would be worth $800 trade in on this deal. I do believe this has been confirmed.

This is what I've always done too. However, if you are already on a multi-line account with 4+ accounts, the postpaid plans are only slightly higher than prepaid. Makes me wonder if this is still true.

For example, 4 prepaid accounts ends up being $30/mo per user after discounts with 8GB data (enough for me). The postpaid Unlimited Starter plan ends up being $35/mo per user. An extra $5 x 30 months = $150 is still a winner if I'm credited back $800.

Another consideration is you can often get prepaid cards at a discount (average 5-10%) and don't need to pay taxes & fees. I presume there's no avoiding that in postpaid plans.

I'm thinking it has to do with the fact that the Pro Max and Mini can't be preordered until November 6. That's likely the issue I'd think

$450 off and sell my iPhone X for $400 and only be on a 2 year contract might be better for me

I agree, some people aren't taking everything into account. I have an account with 7 users on ATT and we pay $45 a month per line with unlimited data and it includes tethering and HBO now. So we BARELY pay more than a prepaid line, BUT when you're on AT&T and not a prepaid service that just uses AT&T towers you get priority tower service and well as discounts on phones like the one we're seeing here. Because of that, The most I've ever paid for a new iphone is about $200. I've been with AT&T since around 2006 and I've never had any issue that can't be solved with a short phone call.

Yeah it's not for everybody. If you plan on staying with Att then it's not bad and you don't have to hassle with trying to sell your old phone - (fees) if you don't sell it for cash.
