If you're staying with them then it doesn't matter if it's bill credits. Money back is money back.

Would love some clarification, it seems the consensus is if you pay off your phone get a new one, you'll continue to get bill credits through 30 months.

This is not how bill credits worked for me on either Sprint or Verizon.

Also in the fine print: "To get all the credits, the discounted device must remain on installment agreement and you must keep eligible service for entire installment term."

Why pay it off early? If you want a new phone, can't you just buy a new phone directly from Apple and keep making payments to AT&T on your previous phone?

One of the biggest reasons to pay it off early, would potentially to meet their requirements for Sim unlocking (after the phone has been active for at least 60days).

Alternatively, you'll have to go through a 3rd party unlocking site for about $30.

Care to share what sites can unlock an AT&T iPhone that's still under contract or still paying installment? Currently have an iPhone 11 from BOGO last year that's still receiving credits and am interested in unlocking it.

I talked to 6-8 att reps and they had no idea what to do. They kept transferring me to random departments, I was sooooo livid.

I'm not sure where you're getting that consensus from.
