The single 8gb 2666 MHz RAM makes that even worse. There's literally nothing salvageable in this tower regarding easy upgrade paths. New PSU if you upgrade the GPU for sure.
With AMEX Plat $100 off $100, it's $500 + tax. It's a good deal for $500. For $600, I'd say that you need at least a 1660, but for most non-VR games, the 1650 is enough.
2x check the wattage on the power supply. I bought a similar item from Dell last year and it said 360 watts on the specs but turned out it was a 460 watt PSU.
Exactly, that what i was thinking. Anyone confirm the psu is proprietary?
I don't know the details about this particular machine, but I can say that though the Dell Optiplex power supplies are proprietary, I was able to get an $8-10 adapter and use a standard ATX power supply pretty easily. As long as the space allows for it.

Intel i5 and i3 RAM speeds are locked at 2666 mhz max unless you buy a expensive overclockable Z series motherboard. So no benefit even if Dell added faster RAM.
Which is really a shame since the i5 10400 is slightly cheaper than the Ryzen 3600 and can outperform it when paired with 3200 or faster RAM. However having to buy a Z series motherboard, which costs at least $150, to take advantage of faster RAM makes it a deal killer. Given many cheap AM4 motherboards under $75 can run DDR4 speeds up to the 4000 range.

Yea, and sometimes you can't upgrade psu cause of proprietary motherboard connections.

I'm probably waiting for BF but I'm sure these will be popping up.
Yes, you could play all older and smaller games easily. It could handle new AAA games as well but not at full resolution.
People don't like this deal because it's a tweener since it's not the best and not the easiest upgrade path.
But if you just want a decent cheap gaming PC, you can get this, add 8gb of Ram and be fine for now.
Or you can wait till the real Black Friday and hope for a deal.
Note that regardless it's a PITA to swap out.
