Let's hope Costco matches and the iPhone 7 or even the 6s are eligible
Yeah, I can see T-mobile scheming now on the terms:
Add 3 lines of Magenta only, requires 36 months of bill credits, trade-in iPhone X or higher and one major organ ...
Hoping for iPhone 12 Mini promos.

I'm on Magenta Plus First Responder with my wife, paying $100/month. We've had T-mobile for less than 1 year. To add an extra line, it's $20/month extra. My wife has an iPhone 7.

Looks like trading in the iPhone 7 + adding a new line = $530 off the iPhone 12 Pro ($1000 - $530 = $470 for the cost of the phone). However, I'll have to keep the new line (which we won't use) open for 30 months for bill credit, so an additional $600 ($20 X 30 months) of T-mobile payment.

This would essentially be $470 + $600 = $1070 of out of pocket payment for the phone (not to mention the additional $10 for the new SIM card).

Doesn't seem like it's worthwhile to me, unless I missed something. Let me know if I did!
Yeah I don't think it is. Might as well buy it unlocked.

Yuck bill credits for 30 months! This is no deal at all. If you do bill credits, most times you can combine bogo and trade in with other carriers, No deal here. Basically how T-mobile came to compete, Uncarrier, No Contract etc now they are doing exactly what the other carriers do!

I wish Telecom was deregulated and international service providers could enter the US telecom market. Off cource then all the 3 US carriers will go bankrupt but all the consumers will save a whole lot of money and govt can save some tax money to not having to bail out or even pay through the nose to some of these carriers!
Yeah it's disappointing.

I think the dollars off with trade you you posted are when a new line is activated. Current customers that just trade in get a lower dollar amount for their trade in.

Might be the below numbers, respectively...
$500 $415 $300 $215 $50
where does it say you have to activate a new line?

As someone who plans on trading in an XS and XS Max for a 12 and 12 Pro, respectively, which Apple directly is going to give $300 and $370 for, this seems like a better deal. The only downside is the 30 bill credits (WTF, really?) and jumping through T-Mobile hoops.

Thanks OP! Has anyone traded-in a phone with T-Mobile before? What is considered "working order?" DS has an iPhone 8 Plus, currently being used in the T-Mobile network that is a bit beat up. It generally works: the glass on the back is shattered and, starting yesterday, the WIFI does not work, but it turns on and works just fine with T-Mobile network/data. Would this qualify for $415? is this an all or nothing?

Assuming you're a sprint customer, otherwise it's a virtual prepaid card for tmobile customers.

from past trade in experience, tmobile will not accept that phone since it's cracked.

I did see months ago that sprint did some trade ins for 'any condition' type of iPhone. So who knows if tmobile also does it but I HIGHLY doubt they would.

So the 55+ plan would not be eligible here? Won't bite then
When it comes to free or heavily discounted flagship phones, T Mobile will not give you them unless you upgrade to Magenta plans. They have to make their money back from these phones.

I couldn't get a free line because I had All-In-One plan. I get everything Magenta gives (plus 10GB hotspot instead of 3GB) but at a much cheaper price.

Most people are on 1 or 2 lines.
Here are Magenta prices:
1 Line = $70/line
2 Lines = $60/line
3 Lines = $40/line

This is a GREAT deal for anyone who has an $215 or $300 trade in device and been with TMo for 5 years.

I hope Apple ups their current XS($300)/XS Max($370) trade in offer. I'd much rather go that route over this 30 month bill credit aka contract BS!

Even after 3 lines+deals tmobile I heard won't let you unlock early after paying off the phone and still give you bill credits. Do you think this is true?

Thank you! I got 3 lines on xfinity mobile right now for $60....so if with T-Mobile I would double my monthly cost, $60 more per month for 24 months=$1420, well more than the cost of the phone. I'm better off buying it directly from Apple with monthly payments and remaining a free agent.
