Let's hope Costco matches and the iPhone 7 or even the 6s are eligible

Yeah, I can see T-mobile scheming now on the terms:
Add 3 lines of Magenta only, requires 36 months of bill credits, trade-in iPhone X or higher and one major organ ...

Wondering if the trade in device must be purchased from T-Mobile to get the $200 rebate?

I think the loyalty promo (if you are eligible) works out still as the best deal. You have to do all of the calculations of course and it depends a bit on what phone you are trading in. But let's say you decide to upgrade after 12 months (and forfeit 18 mo x however much your monthly credit is). That $200 bonus I think makes it more worthwhile in most all cases.

For example, say you are trading in an SE1. It's worth only like $14 in T-Mobile trade (lump bill credit). You'll then get $201 across 30 months (so $6.70/mo bill credit) along with the $200 lump vitrual card.

IF you upgrade after 12 months, you then only got in total $14 + $200 + $80.40 in credits = $294.40 in trade promo for the SE1. Way more than selling it for like $75 on the street. The Apple.com trade promo for it is $30 + $150 so only a $180 in savings ($114.40 less at that 12 month point).

Anyway, that's how I see it. Adjust accordingly depending on what phone you are trading in. I think the iPhone 7 may be the sweet spot.

Apparently they're not available for pre order yet.

Is anyone else able to confirm if the 150$ extra rebate when bought directly from Apple is true? I tried chatting on the app and the rep said they couldn't find any such offer. Also, will the 200$ loyalty bonus stack in this case

Supposedly you no longer even forfeit the remaining credits as long as you pay off the EIP first.
There's now documentation (see bottom of Wiki) from T-Mobile that explains how you can keep your credit and get new recurring credits as part of a promo.

Upgrading my wife's 8 plus to 12 pro hopefully it all works out including promo (been a customer over 6 years).

On an aside I'm considering buying one outright from apple as a replacement for my pixel 2xl as the battery life recently shit the bed. And it seems the trade value is practically nothing. Hoping I'm making the right choice Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) since I've been on Android for about a decade now.

It's not extra. It's for going through apple.com instead.

Exact same. T-Mobile goes by Apple Store time for these.

You are correct in that regard. I'm just even looking at the worst-case that you use that line in 12 months to upgrade to some new deal which would supercede the old one (or just play line roulette and shuffle of course).

The T-Mobile deal still comes out on top I think.
