Let's hope Costco matches and the iPhone 7 or even the 6s are eligible

Yeah, I can see T-mobile scheming now on the terms:
Add 3 lines of Magenta only, requires 36 months of bill credits, trade-in iPhone X or higher and one major organ ...

I hope this is true.
Like I said. Some people would prefer to deal with Apple direct (myself included!) and they are throwing a bone to us that do it appears.

I think the loyalty promo (if you are eligible) works out still as the best deal. You have to do all of the calculations of course and it depends a bit on what phone you are trading in. But let's say you decide to upgrade after 12 months (and forfeit 18 mo x however much your monthly credit is). That $200 bonus I think makes it more worthwhile in most all cases.

For example, say you are trading in an SE1. It's worth only like $14 in T-Mobile trade (lump bill credit). You'll then get $201 across 30 months (so $6.70/mo bill credit) along with the $200 lump vitrual card.

IF you upgrade after 12 months, you then only got in total $14 + $200 + $80.40 in credits = $294.40 in trade promo for the SE1. Way more than selling it for like $75 on the street. The Apple.com trade promo for it is $30 + $150 so only a $180 in savings ($114.40 less at that 12 month point).

Anyway, that's how I see it. Adjust accordingly depending on what phone you are trading in. I think the iPhone 7 may be the sweet spot.
Do you think they'll roll out any better deals this year or is this as good as it gets?

Depends if there are plan restrictions. I'm not giving up my simple choice family plan and from what I read, that plan IS eligible for this deal. We'll find out tomorrow for sure.

The promo you want on the already opened "new" line must have been active when you activated the new line, and still be active when you do the phone purchase.

This iP12 deal will not apply to any lines already opened as the promo hasn't started yet. . .

As an example, TMO did the Free line on us until Sept. 24th, and then the free S20FE with add a line started the next day, Sept. 25th. Those "new" lines didn't qualify. Not a coincidence.

Your current line no longer qualifies for new customer, new lines port over to your plan can though.
All my lines are ported and I heard that you're still considered a new customer if you're within 30 days of your service.

That's not true, I opened my lines on the 17th and I was able to get the S20 FE deal because I was still a new customer!

Only if you pay off the EIP for the S20 FE first. See the bottom of the Wiki for details.

Thanks for doing the math on this. The SE1 is one of the phones I plan to trade in for the Mini when that becomes available. Combined with loyalty bonus I am thrilled with this offer since the SE1 phones have virtually no value and haven't been accepted as a trade-in in ages. I will do another trade-in with a 6 - another phone with very little value so these current trade-in deals are a rare bonus for anyone with older iPhones.
