As an aside, I mix some Bissell detergent with a scoop of oxiclean and hot water in a spray bottle until dissolved. I use that to spot treat carpet stains and high traffic areas. Let sit for 10-15 min and then clean with the machine. I typically do one pass with detergent and then one pass in a perpendicular direction with just water to rinse the carpet. I then go back over with just suction to pull as much water and remaining dirt from the carpet as the final pass (don't hold the trigger). Carpets are very clean and dry quicker (I also run a fan or two over the surface for a few hours to dry as quickly as posible.
The only flaw is you CANNOT use hot water, and the instructions warn you of this. If you do, and I'm just talking about hot water from the tap...you run the risk of breaking an approx $15 plastic part that will have water shooting everywhere. You can buy the replacement easy enough on Amazon, and it takes maybe 5 minutes to swap it out, but it's easier to just use warm water instead.
If anyone wants cheap carpet shampoo, look to see if your local hardware store carries Zep. It comes in a 1-gallon jug and is much, much more affordable than those tiny Bissel solution bottles.

Do you feel it could use a little more powerful suction? Or closer to the ground. Like putting weight on top to improve the suction. I'm looking to get a rug cleaner that's essentially just before this one in terms of quality.
