For those thinking about the A3300, it's a fantastic price at $350. Typically it is $499 at full price. Both the Ascent A2500 and the Ascent A3300 models are $499 at full price. The A2500 only has the count up timer (not a programmable timer) that shows you the time lapse during blending, and it has knobs and levers. The A2500 also has three built-in presets. There is also an Ascent A2300 model (base Ascent model), which is the same as the A2500 minus the built-in presets that is $450 at full price. The A3300 is all digital with a programmable timer. The A3300's programmable timer counts up to show blending time lapse, but can also be set to stop after X amount of seconds or minutes. The A3300 is all digital and some consider that easier to clean because the panel is flat with no knobs or levers. The A3300 does not have built in presets. However, ALL Ascent (and the Costco Venturist model) can connect to the Vitamix Perfect Blend App and access many presets. They connect via bluetooth, the app recognizes what container size is on the blender, and you can pick any of the many presets and just press start on your actual blender. So even though the A3300 doesn't have built in presets, you can access presets via the app. The priciest model, the A3500, is all digital and the same as the A3300 except that it has five built-in presets and comes in metal housing finishes that supposedly make the unit quieter when blending (see lifeisnoyoke videos and reviews that discuss this). The only colors that are non metallic for the priciest A3500 are candy apple red and white, which are plastic finish and supposedly not as quiet as the metal housed bases. The A3300 on sale at Amazon right now in Black Diamond is supposedly the non metal housing finish. The A3300's only metal housed base is the brushed stainless steel. Regardless, the A3300 Amazon sale price for Black Diamond is an excellent deal. Only the Ascent (and Costco Venturist) blenders are compatible with the new food processor attachment and the smart detect 20 oz jar and 8 oz bowls. So if you care about compatibility with new smart detect accessories now and going forward, you probably want an Ascent (or Venturist) model. If all you care about is a good blend, any of the classics/non Ascent models blend wonderfully too. Hope this helps.

5200 is the pick for America's Test Kitchen.

This is mostly because it comes with a taller jar that vortexes better than the shorter wider jars.

Great blender got one with first responder discount! Do yourself a favor and get one with a tamper. Sorbets are amazing! The warranty appears to be the same. $30 cheaper than direct from vitamix and you have choice of color!

Got the e3500 from sale a lil while ago, and am impressed so far. I did grind the gears a little when I pulled the container off mid blend and attempted to put it back on the stand, but it still works so far. Things get pulverized. I make frozen coffee drinks with kale, spinach and chard and it tastes much better than it sounds. No taste of veggies but it does come out looking like poop.

What's the horse on the this? Also this doesn't come with tamper? I thought Vitamix was all about the tamper?

Q&A says it comes with the tamper but it's just doesn't list it in the description. I really want to pull the trigger, but last time they did this on the black friday deal, it seems like most got what appeared to be used units. That would kill this for me.

shoot. I had just talked myself out of upgrading my blendtec that needs a new jar....

How much difference does the taller 5200 jar make for blending? I imagine it being better than the wide ones in some contexts. Gotta research what the a3300 doesn't have that the a3500 has. I think that I'm more inclined to go with the shorter jar for aesthetic purposes and because I could fit it in more places on the counter. Also, newer things like the food processor attachment only work with the newer series.

Description on Amazon:

"What's in the Box: motor base, 64 oz. container, getting started guide, DVD, classic tamper.Cord: 6 ft.Electrical Ratings: 120 V, 50/60 Hz, 11.5 Amps and HP- 2-peak "

You could call Vitamix and ask them today.

Bought a refurbished 5200 years ago and the only way to tell was the bottom plate that stated it was refurbished. Otherwise looked and performed as brand new.

Great blender. Great company.

This is the first prime deal that I have seen that is worth it. Too bad I purchased a used one 2 weeks ago. Here is a comparison of the different models

https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/shop/compare
The ascent series is the latest blender released. I feel that new accessories that come out will cater to the ascent series. They now have a food processor attachment but will only work on the ascent series. I couldn't decide a couple weeks ago but I really wanted the ascent. Just couldn't pull the trigger.
I purchased an E series from Costco, and did not stand up to my 5200, it could not handle thick smoothies even constantly tampering it down constantly. I took it back. I found an okay deal on a used 750 pro and purchased it and I am extremely happy. It seems to have a little more power than the 5200 but not worth the added price. I gave my son my 5200. If you don't care about the latest technology (blue tooth, add ons like the food processor, more to break down) I would stick with the 5200. I have never seen a vitamix sold without a tamper so I think your safe to assume it has one

Edited to add: For me the tall container is a must. I make a 2 cup batch of cashew cream if I use the 64 oz the cashews do not cover the blade and therefore to dont grind up well. Anything thick and a small batch does not do as well. I think the 32oz low profile would do okay since the base is smaller like the tall one.

Newbie to Vitamix but always wanted one. Have Nutribullet pro that struggles sometimes with blending. What is the main difference between the 2 models 5200 vs A330? other than the price
Can smaller cups be purchased for protein shakes for easy dishwasher cleaning like Nutribullet has?

The ascent series can use the smaller cups the 5200 cannot. You can buy extra cups for the ascent series. The ascent series uses a self detect technology which requries different containers than the E series of Legacy series. They are not interchangeable. The containers for the ascent series are more expensive than the containers for the 5200.
The 5200 can use the 20 ounce cup but you need a personal cup adapter plus the cup. I had that set up for about a week and hated it. I felt it much easier from a cleaning and blending standpoint to just use the tall container and dump it in a personal cup.

The taller more narrow 64 oz container of the 5200 handles smaller jobs, couple cups or less, better than the shorter and wider 64 oz container found on newer model designs. Results can vary depending on what you are blending with small quantities. For instance, I've read that the wider shorter 64 oz containers have difficulty making small amounts (2 cups) of nut butter.

I think that too small a quantity of whatever for any sized container will give incomplete results. You will figure out what the limits are for your blender's container. You can buy a smaller volume container for any blender, though this can be a significant cost.

I have used both container types - tall or shorter - and making a 16-20 oz smoothie in either container is not an issue IMO. The blend is smooth.
