If you are not a heavy data user, say less than 3GB monthly, major savings are available. I was with Verizon and all the costs just kept adding up. Monthly fee, line fee, 911, taxes, regulatory, on and on....

Is Xfinity right for everyone, no. Is it right for savers who don't use a phone constantly for streaming, for video, for online gaming, for regular Google mapping; yes it is.

My monthly bill is between $16 and $28, just depends on data usage. Locations I had a problem with Verizon service are the same locations I have problems with Xfinity, but those are very, very few.

My Verizon bill, no matter what was around 60 per line. Don't need to pay all that money to pad someone else's pockets.

Look at your monthly data avg., to see what makes cents and dollars.

FYI, after unlocking my 11, I had issues using my phone in verizon. Took a couple of hours at the store to fix.

How much faster is 5g? I stream a lot of audiobooks and use maps but otherwise I'm on WiFi most of the time. I'm on the old Xfinity plan so may do this deal on the pro and just skip the 5g access.
You will most likely not notice a difference with audiobooks and maps

Why does apple still sell 64gb phone, especially at such high price
Because it lets them say the phone's a cheaper price to get you hooked then charge you way more than the upgraded storage actually costs.

Thank you. Appreciate the info. I am not a big data user.... prob under 3 gigs a month i would think. dont play games, dont stream netflix. maybe some youtube videos and lots of email web surfing, etc. Checking in on some video camera feeds, as well.

Sounds like this can save me some good money per month, just looking at their plans. I think they throttle a bit when u use it as a hot spot, but that happens maybe once a year if need be.

thanks again for the info.
I don't know if they've improved their service, but I signed up right when XM launched, and the data connection/speeds were unusable. I would be standing next to a Verizon user, and they would have data while I wouldn't. I never had speeds above 3mbps in an urban or suburban area. I stuck with them for about 2 years until it was too unbearable. I also had a nightmare scenario with ordering a phone from them (their customer service is atrocious). I have Verizon prepaid now, and I have none of those issues in the same locations. I pay $25 for 5gb.

for someone that has been a verizon subscriber for the last 20 years, and happy with their service, what are the pros and cons switching to Xfinity mobile? I understand they use the same vzw towers? So thinking speeds and reception should be the same?

Curious to know if anyone from vzw switched to here, and their thoughts.
Pros:
  1. Pricing obviously. You might pay 1/3 or 1/4 depending on your current bill
  2. They used to have real cheap offer on iPad and Apple watches. Not sure if they offer them nowadays
  3. Xfinity new phone upgrade / offer is generous than VZ or AT&T in my opinion

Cons:
  1. Network prioritization. VZ post paid customers get the first preference in the network traffic. Within this they have prioritization based on plans (unlimited gets first, etc). Probably their own prepaid comes next, MVNO's (Xfinity is a VZ MVNO) comes last. You will notice this if you are in a crowded area where there is network congestion. If you dont have a network congestion you will not see any difference in speeds
  2. Xfinity touts their automatic Wifi set up when they are available but their Wifi calls are really bad; never worked for me and there are many customer complaints. You can check out their customer service forum. Do not turn on Wifi calls if you switch.
  3. You wont get the Disney+ or any other goodies VZ have started offering now; again depends on the plan
  4. Their customer service may not be to the level of VZ CS. But I have seen complaints on both sides. My experience has been reasonably good.

no. you either port in and get a new line or upgrade a line that exists already. No way to double dip.

People need to stop saying that XM has lower priority than Verizon. It hasn't been the case since the gen3 plans launched earlier this year. If you haven't switched to a gen3 plan, you're still being deprioritized all of the time but you can migrate to the new plans through the website or app.

Verizon has two priority levels - QCI 8 which only goes to their postpaid, Xfinity Mobile, and Spectrum Mobile and QCI 9 which goes to everything else. Spectrum actually details this in their terms: "Quality of Service (QoS). Spectrum Mobile Service customers' data traffic is prioritized ahead of data traffic not marked for prioritization on our MNP's network." <- what that means is that all Spectrum traffic is ahead of all of Verizon's traffic except traffic that is also marked as priority where they both become equal priority.

https://www.spectrum.com/policies/mobile-terms

Xfinity Mobile isn't as up front about it but if you look at the info on the By The Gig plan, it says that you'll have better service during times of network congestion. Unlimited requires the HD Pass to get priority.

Some people don't need a lot of storage and use iCloud. I bought a 128gb phone because storage. After 3 years of use I am at a whopping 28gb used.

My WiFi calls work fantastic. Our house has very bad in-house reception, but calls are very clear because they use WiFi.

Thats correct only 15 if you don't go over the limit. Set the alert if you about to cross the 1GB and make easy switch to next tier which is 3GB for $30 for that month and again switch back to 1 GB. I do this all time without issues and save ton on stupid line fees. Last 7 months my mobile bill is $17 for 2 lines every month.
Don't they lock you in a higher tier for at least one extra month before allowing to switch back to the lower tier? We are usually by the gig, but last time when we went on a vacation, we switched to unlimited just for that month, however I was not allowed to switch back until two months later.
