If you are not a heavy data user, say less than 3GB monthly, major savings are available. I was with Verizon and all the costs just kept adding up. Monthly fee, line fee, 911, taxes, regulatory, on and on....

Is Xfinity right for everyone, no. Is it right for savers who don't use a phone constantly for streaming, for video, for online gaming, for regular Google mapping; yes it is.

My monthly bill is between $16 and $28, just depends on data usage. Locations I had a problem with Verizon service are the same locations I have problems with Xfinity, but those are very, very few.

My Verizon bill, no matter what was around 60 per line. Don't need to pay all that money to pad someone else's pockets.

Look at your monthly data avg., to see what makes cents and dollars.

The only issue that may occur is two rebates. When you port a number and byod it qualifies you for their promo of $25.00. If you do a new number you don't qualify. There may be a conflict of the $25 and $ 250 promo or you may get lucky and get both. I don't think anyone knows as of yet.

Yes that's what triggered my thinking that it could become an issue. They may default to the first rebate of $25.00 and void the second. Hopefully that's not the case but for anyone doing this confirm with Xfinity before taking the leap.

So the best strategy is to join without porting so that the 25$ rebate is not available and 250$ one is safe?

Just wanted to share my experience FWIW:
  • I went online and pre-ordered the iPhone 12 from Xfinity
  • I asked to upgrade an existing line. I paid in full - no installments.
  • I received it on Oct 23rd.
  • I activated it using the included SIM, and then set it aside for two days to finish synching and registering on Xfinity's systems.
  • Today, I went on Xfinity's App and asked for a callback.
  • I spoke to the customer serve rep and asked her to unlock my new iPhone 12.
  • She put the request into the system - no questions or problems with it being in service for just 3 days.
  • I got an email from Xfinity with the steps to finish unlocking my iPhone (Just insert a foreign SIM and restart).

I did the same thing with two Xfinity iPhones last year, and got the $250 rebates even though I sold those iPhone immediately after activation. It appears that the line needs to remain active for 90 days, not necessarily that particular phone.

thanks for the update. I wonder what is the advantages of paid in full vs installments other than you will be able to unlock the phone quickly?
I'm still waiting for the shipment of the iphone 12 pro.

Get a single payment of $250 (gift card) in 4-6 months, instead of getting the monthly rebates over the course of 2 yrs.

I have already gotten the 1GB plan with a new sim card and a new number. Once I activate it using my phone, do I have to use their service? I want to use my mint mobile 3GB plan that I have bought for a year.

Thank you. Appreciate the info. I am not a big data user.... prob under 3 gigs a month i would think. dont play games, dont stream netflix. maybe some youtube videos and lots of email web surfing, etc. Checking in on some video camera feeds, as well.

Sounds like this can save me some good money per month, just looking at their plans. I think they throttle a bit when u use it as a hot spot, but that happens maybe once a year if need be.

thanks again for the info.
You would be surprised at how much data email / web / surfing / camera feeds can use. If you stream music then even more. My data use for just safari is 10gb this month. Gmail is 2.9gb. Now keep in mind this is WiFi and 4g combined. So if your mainly on WiFi then the number that matters could be way less. My point is you should login to your VZ account and check your actual usage.

How can I get a cell phone number just to port it to Xfinity Mobile? If I select use a new number, they charge 10 dollars more every month.

Where did you see $10? I don't think this is true.
