TP-Link Archer AX50
The best Wi-Fi router
In our tests the TP-Link Archer AX50 created a speedy, responsive network even from across a medium house. You have to spend a lot more on a router—or a mesh kit if you have a very large home—to get anything even a little better. It's our first WI-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router pick.

The TP-Link Archer AX50 is reasonably priced, yet it can handle a growing selection of laptops and smart devices while surpassing the performance of routers that cost twice as much. It's generally speedy and able to reach long range, it has little lag even when the network is busy, and it's a great choice if you have a high-performance internet service plan. It's compatible with Wi-Fi 6, the latest wireless standard, and it comes with built-in security in the form of a lifetime subscription to updates.

TP-Link Archer AX20
If our main pick is unavailable
The Archer AX20 offers fewer features than our pick for a slightly lower price, but in most cases it can keep up in throughput, responsiveness, and ease of setup.

If our pick is out of stock or its price is more than $30 higher, you should consider the TP-Link Archer AX20 instead. The AX20 looks like the AX50 and offers a strong, responsive network that's nearly as good, especially if your house isn't larger than our 2,300-square-foot-test home. But it's not quite as fast at longer ranges, and TP-Link sacrifices a few advanced features and settings in its administration interface to meet the lower price

Overall if you want a entry level to medium end router, you cant go wrong.[/QUOTE]

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

1. Donknows has a review on the AX3000 (Archer AX 50) this has thoroughly been discredited on this thread.

Quote from PeteyTheStriker :
As was mentioned by me and a few others, that DONGKNOWS review is poorly done. It is not an apples to apples comparison, he used a router with a brand new firmware comparing to an identical router with firmware over 6 months old which had major problems just like any other router around that time. It takes time to work out the bugs and TP-Link, Netgear, Asus to name a few all put out routers with bugged performance with their first set of Wifi 6 routers. So yeah..... Important to make apples to apples instead of reading something without understanding the testing. If he did it the correct way he would have had both side by side on the same firmware. The routers are identical outside USB 3.0 port and Homecare included on one, so you will get identical performance results with the same firmware.

2. CAT7, a CAT 6 or CAT5e cable is needed for gigabit Ethernet. Most cables made for the last 10 years are already 5e, so just saying that cables are usually never a bottleneck.

Slickdeals moderators are failing their jobs, by letting the op continue to bump this "deal" It's not any sort of a stellar deal... this feels like self promotion/spam and should probably be reported
This is not self promotion, neither spam if true definition (unless OP works for TP-Link or costco). But really its starting to get annoying, the frequent bumps making this pop-up at the top made me downvote this even though its a decent deal.

If you are also being annoyed by these constant bumps by the OP, please report it to the mods, if enough people do it, they will start merging OP posts.

After trying to read the 32 pages of this thread which router are we saying to BUY, the C400 from Costco on sale for 129.00 or the AX3000 at Target. I am not trying to thread troll, going to hand down my old R8500 to a friend and try my luck on a non netgear router...

Bought both the routers recommended here, for whatever reason I am getting only 500 mbps internet through ethernet while I get 950+ mbps if I connect without this router (both of them seem to be faulty, confirmed by a technician from my isp), very weird. I am just gonna return them, get the netgear deal and be done with it.

Also, the constant "advertising" by changing the title with view counts, amazon price comparison and "#1 Recommended router by World Heritage Center" is getting a bit on the nose. Trying to sell *Anything* too hard is never good news cause it just makes people inherently cautious, just present the relevant facts instead of sensationalizing it.

Is it worth buying 2 of these and using one as a bridge to extend signal. Is that how its usually done. Just trying to get better coverage throughout house? Thanks.

I am also curious about it. but if you can buy 2 for your purpose, isn't google wifi is a better solution? I try to buy one and use it as a repeater for the old router.

But why would you need another one if it's such a magical router? Sorry couldn't help it. I just find it interesting how OP is so obsessed with this router.

I thought the repeater had to match the router. Is that not the case?

I know nothing about the router. Can someone please tell me which one is better for my case, this one or the newegg Asus rt-ax55 ac1800 ($100 shipped)?

I have a spectrum 400 mps network in 2500 sqft house. My main concerns are the range and stability, because everyone in the house is rely on the internet for remote work and school.

my current router is a Belkin ac1900. I guess I definitely need to upgrade it right?

Thanks!

Asus is considered the cream of the crop in terms of a router.

To ascertain if you need to upgrade:

a) What is the speed when your router is connected to a PC a) with a cable and b) over wifi. You can check the speed in 15 seconds by going to fast.com on your web browser.

g) Check the speed over wifi by going to fast.com (either on your laptop or phone) at different points of your house.

Report back with the results. Thanks.
