TP-Link Archer AX50
The best Wi-Fi router
In our tests the TP-Link Archer AX50 created a speedy, responsive network even from across a medium house. You have to spend a lot more on a router—or a mesh kit if you have a very large home—to get anything even a little better. It's our first WI-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router pick.

The TP-Link Archer AX50 is reasonably priced, yet it can handle a growing selection of laptops and smart devices while surpassing the performance of routers that cost twice as much. It's generally speedy and able to reach long range, it has little lag even when the network is busy, and it's a great choice if you have a high-performance internet service plan. It's compatible with Wi-Fi 6, the latest wireless standard, and it comes with built-in security in the form of a lifetime subscription to updates.

TP-Link Archer AX20
If our main pick is unavailable
The Archer AX20 offers fewer features than our pick for a slightly lower price, but in most cases it can keep up in throughput, responsiveness, and ease of setup.

If our pick is out of stock or its price is more than $30 higher, you should consider the TP-Link Archer AX20 instead. The AX20 looks like the AX50 and offers a strong, responsive network that's nearly as good, especially if your house isn't larger than our 2,300-square-foot-test home. But it's not quite as fast at longer ranges, and TP-Link sacrifices a few advanced features and settings in its administration interface to meet the lower price

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

1. Donknows has a review on the AX3000 (Archer AX 50) this has thoroughly been discredited on this thread.

Quote from PeteyTheStriker :
As was mentioned by me and a few others, that DONGKNOWS review is poorly done. It is not an apples to apples comparison, he used a router with a brand new firmware comparing to an identical router with firmware over 6 months old which had major problems just like any other router around that time. It takes time to work out the bugs and TP-Link, Netgear, Asus to name a few all put out routers with bugged performance with their first set of Wifi 6 routers. So yeah..... Important to make apples to apples instead of reading something without understanding the testing. If he did it the correct way he would have had both side by side on the same firmware. The routers are identical outside USB 3.0 port and Homecare included on one, so you will get identical performance results with the same firmware.

2. CAT7, a CAT 6 or CAT5e cable is needed for gigabit Ethernet. Most cables made for the last 10 years are already 5e, so just saying that cables are usually never a bottleneck.

Speeds are great for me but no fix with the 2.4ghz slowness on my Note 10+. 5 days and counting trying everything supports suggests. Switch back to deco mesh and the speeds are back to normal. No other device in the house has the issue.

Anyone got recommendation for me..
I am using rbr20 from Netgear probay the worst router ever used.
I have small home two floors around 2000 sqft total with total of 25 device including majority iot.

I prefer Costco ( or Sam's club) so that I can take benefit of their return policy ( just in case I don't like)
Any of these in the post should be fine.

What TP-Link are you referring to? The AX20 or AX 50 or both AX20 and AX50?
AX50

Thanks.
Its always on, cant be turned off on a lot of routers as its integrated into the technology.

No its not, you can look up at my first response. Just a situation of a person reading a review without understanding what he is reading and how poorly conducted the review was. I read dongs stuff on other things hes usually decent, but that review was not even close to properly done.....

TL/DR - the CAT5 cable is your bottleneck, it's rated for 10/100Mbps.

you don't need CAT7, a CAT 6 or CAT5e is needed for gigabit Ethernet.
so Petey was almost right - you would've been fine if your cabling was at least 5e.

need to make sure that's the case from modem to router first and then downstream.

Quote from JoyTan :
I can't thank you enough. As you recommended, I connected the modem directly into the PC (
ignoring the router) and VOILA, the speed was 230 mbps (30 more than Spectrum's promised 200 mbps.). So, the problem wasn't the Motorola SB 6141 router as you correctly stated! When I then ran the modem through the router, the speed via a wired connected dropped to a 50 mbps. What a drop! The damn 6 year old N300 router TL-WR841N is the bottleneck!

Spectrum gave me totally incorrect information. They stated that my personally owned SB 6141 was the problem and couldn't generate speeds exceeding 130 mbps. They already shipped out their own modem though it will not cost me anything. The first thing I will do is to test that modem directly on my computer (without the router) but if the contracted speed with Specturm is only 200 mbps, I don't see how the new modem will benefit me over the SB 6141. Anyway, I will get back to you once I find out what that modem is.

By the way, my cable is CAT 5. Should I get CAT 7 or shouldn't bother?

Again, I can't thank you enough! You correctly indicated the steps I should take to diagnose the core issue.
Quote from JoyTan :
I have a motorola sb6141 router (I get speeds of 85 Mbs on a wired connection). My internet connection is supposed to be 200mbs. The cable company is sending me a new modem that can handle the speed (no extra cost for me; wish I had known)

I just purchased a "
TP-Link AC1750 Smart WiFi Router (Archer A7) - Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Internet Router for Home, Works with Alexa, VPN Server, Parental Control and QoS" for $50.

My PC has integrated "10/100/1000 ethernet" which I assume is not a limiting factor to get 200mbs. Does the cable that goes into the PC have to meet any minimum requirement?

Will this solution work for me (apartment, 1400 square feet)?

Thanks.

6E announcement <> 6e adoption, also 6GHz offers bandwidth not range so the argument on waiting for mobile reasons is moot. some folks said to wait for AD7200.... (smh)

Quote from DealSeeker343 :
Wait for Wifi 6E routers that are coming out at the end of the year or early next year, 6Ghz is going to have a lot less spectrum competition than 5Ghz. Current Wifi6 routers offer very little improvement to good AC routers that supports DFS channels.

Also, not that it matters to this particular router, but applies to Wifi in general, keep in mind most mobile client devices are limited to 2x2 anyhow due to battery considerations, so anything advertised above 1200mbps is only for client devices that actually supports a 3x3 or 4x4 MIMO configuration, which is pretty rare.

Quote from JoyTan :
Hello, how many devices currently have 6E? You are unlikely to see the kind of widespread usage needed for 6E for at least 3 years. Do you buy textbooks NOW for your children that are 3 grades up?

But it's really the only data point we have to go on, or do you have any others? It also implies that TP-Link released this router with significantly sub-par performance. If that's the case we can only hope that they've fixed it.

The last thing I'd point out is that this deal isn't particularly hot given that it's just $10 below regular price. There will almost certainly be better deals over the next one month.

No its not, and a horribly inaccurate data point should never be considered.

A quick google search found a few reviews through youtube but I could only find one who had internet at 1gbps. It unfortunately was a sponsored review, but it still shows it works.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXVGRKgaxYo

Clearly shows the AX3000 hits over 500Mbps up to over 700Mbps which per dongs review the AX3000 could never do which completely discredits his findings cause he said in the review the AX3000 could never achieve those speeds in his test. Again Dong used old firmware and never did a side by side with the AX3000 on the latest firmware so his review and comparison was a complete fail. They are identical hardware for the most part so you will get identical results. The only difference is one was made for a specific retailer while the other was marketed to multiple retailers and regions.

I found two other reviews, but they were done pretty poorly too. The only good thing they showed is that its coverage was very good when compared to older Wifi 5 systems.

Good luck finding a normal Cat 5 cable in anything sold in the last 10 years...... all cables included in any current networking products in the last 10 years have all been minimum cat 5E.

Also I already solved her problem the bottle neck as I figured was her N router, those things never got anywhere close to their rated speeds....

So thanks for your input but your info was taken and disregarded as very unlikely, which is why I didnt bring it up.

BTW also wanted to add most cables within the last 15 years even if they didn't specify 5E still actually met the 5E standard since all the standard acknowledged was the ability to resist cross talk better. Also Cat 5 was capable of 10/100/1000 speeds but never did it reliably . Hope that educated you SR71.

Given that several people bought up the Dongknow's review, I advanced your comments to the OP.

this worked for me! Thanks!!!

I used target chat to get a price adjustment.

They said to go ahead and order the item at full price which is 140-14 = 126.

Then I provided my order number and he gave me back 10 dollars to my purchase method. Brings total to 116 plus tax.

Not bad. I have been eyeing this one for sometime now. After reading a lot of reviews, this seems to be a good choice. I don't really use the usb port so I don't care that it's 2.0. Other than that, this seems like a great option and I look forward to its arrival.

update:
target chat person said he made an exception for me. I think it's because I ordered it without mentioning that I used the ten percent coupon.
Sean: Usually if the item is eligible for any promotions, we don't honor price match. Since you're charged only $124, before the adjustment.
Sean: However, I've adjusted the price as an exception.
