1) Going directly with T-mobile, using the iPhone 8 as a trade in will net you $415 off instead of Apple $140 + $150 Rebate Card. $415 vs $290. No brainer. Granted the Tmo deal is bill credits, but if your staying with Tmobile, who cares.
2) If you don't want Bill credits, BE PATIENT. Costco will have an offer soon if they don't have one already that will usually mirror T-Mobiles direct offer except with a prepaid card instead. Will beat Apple's crappy offer.

So definitely being credited in gift cards is not a must. I'm calling support until I find someone that can help
My problem was instead of mail back the trade in phone, i did the trade-in at the same time i picked up the phone from apple store
But after telling t-mobile rebate support what happened and provide them with imei for both the new phone and trade-in phone, he was able to re-submit and approve the rebate on the spot

Received the credit for 2nd phone as a prepaid gift card from T-Mobile.

About the phone itself, I purchased it through Apple and it came with the T-mobile SIM too, but in about settings it says no SIM restrictions for carrier lock. Does that mean phone is unlocked already?
