Spoke with Sam's Club customer service about 2 weeks ago. Told your membership must be expired for 6 months before considered a "new" member sign up.

However, if someone else signs up as a new member then you can be their complimentary member no matter how long ago your membership expired.
I have both Costco and Sam's. I always get this Sam's deal. It always comes out free with deals like these. After going to Sam's and Costco's for 10+ years I have found some items at Sam's that I can't find at Costco. If I could only choose 1 membership it would probably be Costco but I really like Sam's too. I love the scan and go at Sam's. It really beats out having to wait in checkout to pay. Also the hotdogs are way better at Sam's lol.
Do you need a more compelling reason than free?

Sam's has higher quality produce in my experience, and it's by a long shot. Also a different variety of frozen foods that my family enjoys more. Additionally, scan n go, and a lot less crowded.

Having said all that, Costco is the overall winner IMO.

Several comments in the Nov Costco thread lamenting their non-deals. One or two said Sam's was improving and a viable option.

I had Sam's 15yrs ago. Best two purchases were a window A/C (not carried anywhere), and an outstanding deal on a top-of-the-line basketball hoop.
But yeah, I don't think Costco can be beat. Perhaps Sam's is doing a good job of competing online?

How is the quality of regular, skim, 2% and organic milks between Sams and Costco? Are they both same?

Also which egg is better at both places?

Costco has awesome eggs with great prices on that.

Personally tempted to pick up as while Sam's is maybe a mile further, I haven't had a Sam's club membership in almost 10 years and it would be nice to introduce a little variety at home (go to costso far too much)

I just re-joined Sam's back off the last deal and Costco is definitely better in my opinion. We just had a new baby 3 weeks ago and Sam's club diapers are the best price/quality (104 count for $13) that we have found so far. It's also good for I would say, well known brands in bulk. Costco has a lot of new/more specialized brands food wise, Sam's has a lot of names/good brands that you probably know. I would also say that Sam's has a HUGE snack and foods section, sometimes overwhelming but hey it's free. Might as well join.

ALSO, scan & go comes in super clutch.

Yep. My consumption or usage habit does not justify paying Costco $60 annual membership. I don't need a gallon of mayonnaise.
You can justify the membership alone on non-perishables (as long as you have storage space) and gas. Plus their monthly sales are fantastic.

I might give Sam's another shot with this deal though. I had it in the past but then switched to Costco for the last few years.

Gas is cheap at Sams atleast for me here. Sams stock vital farms pasture raised eggs 18ct at 6.98, costco pasture raised eggs can be a miss at times.
Costco is way toooooooo crowded.

Just let our Sam's membership drop after like 15 years. Unless you can make this into a money maker OR you just have no access to Costco then it isn't worth your time. My wife would have me driving 30 minutes PAST the Sam's club to go to Costco bc Costco is just so much better.
I have both memberships, and don't get me wrong I love Costco and think it's a better membership, but I really enjoy shopping at Sam's. Much better app which allows really good transparency when it comes to pricing, the ability to check out on my phone and avoid long lines, and some products that I just can't find at Costco.

Am I still able to do the deal where I cancel my membership and my husband can be a new member? Our membership expires this month. He is an authorized user on my card. Or did they close that loophole?

As in my case, I dont do much of shopping neither in costco nor in sams club. But Gas is cheaper in both places than outside. So paying for membership for gas is of no use. So get this free membership and get cheaper gas.
The other one is the self-checkout if anything is needed for a quick checkout. Else stand in line with other people who come closer at the checkout lines and scare you during covid times.

For the membership, just get the code, go to members service, get a membership and show them the coupon code and they will immediately give you the gift card that you can use it on the same day.

Costco is better, but doesn't worth it price.
