Spoke with Sam's Club customer service about 2 weeks ago. Told your membership must be expired for 6 months before considered a "new" member sign up.

However, if someone else signs up as a new member then you can be their complimentary member no matter how long ago your membership expired.

I have both Costco and Sam's. I always get this Sam's deal. It always comes out free with deals like these. After going to Sam's and Costco's for 10+ years I have found some items at Sam's that I can't find at Costco. If I could only choose 1 membership it would probably be Costco but I really like Sam's too. I love the scan and go at Sam's. It really beats out having to wait in checkout to pay. Also the hotdogs are way better at Sam's lol.

Do you need a more compelling reason than free?

And why did you hold onto a bad product in your fridge forever instead of returning it immediately? That is on you...you shouldn't have been given a refund.
Not that I really care what your opinion is, but since you decided to be judgemental about this - there are two reasons:

1. The product was bad from the time I purchased it. Also, I hardly held on to it "forever", as you state in an accusatory manner. It was barely expired a few days before.

2. There is absolutely nothing in their return policy about a product having to be unexpired to return it. Here is their return policy, right from their website, quoted verbatim:

Risk-Free 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
On Membership: We will cancel and refund your membership fee at any time if you are dissatisfied.
On Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell, and will refund your purchase price*, with the following exceptions:
  • Electronics: Costco will accept returns within 90 days (from the date the member received the merchandise) for Televisions, Projectors, Major Appliances (refrigerators above 10 cu. ft., freezers, ranges, cooktops, over-the-range microwaves, dishwashers, water heaters, washers and dryers), Computers, Touchscreen Tablets, Smart Watches, Cameras, Aerial Cameras (drones), Camcorders, MP3 players and Cellular Phones (return details will vary by carrier service contract).
    • Our Costco Concierge Services representatives are available to assist with technical support and warranty information for many of the products above. You'll find a list of eligible items here [costco.com].
  • Diamonds: 1.00ct or larger: Members returning a diamond over 1.00ct must also present all original paperwork (IGI and/or GIA certificates) at which time they will receive a Jewelry Credit Memo. Within 48 hours, our Costco Graduate Gemologist will inspect for authenticity.
  • Cigarettes and alcohol: Costco does not accept returns on cigarettes or alcohol where prohibited by law.
  • Products with a limited useful life expectancy, such as tires and batteries, may be sold with a product-specific limited warranty.
  • Special Order Kiosk and Custom Installed Programs: Custom product(s) manufactured to our member's personal and unique specifications cannot be returned or refunded, except for warranty repair/replacement due to failure to meet specifications.
See anything in there about expired or unexpired product? No, I didn't think so. In fact, it says "Risk Free 100% Satisfaction Guarantee", doesn't it? I don't think there's much room for misinterpretation in that sentence. They state clearly the few exceptions to this policy. It really doesn't matter what you think or what I think. It's there in black and white. Also, it's not like I returned food items every day, in fact it was one of the maybe 2 or 3 edible items I've ever returned to them in many years of membership. I had a good reason to do so. Just because I didn't do it immediately has no bearing on the issue, or the guarantee. The manager also agreed with me and refunded my money, over-riding the cashiers knee-jerk decision. Case closed.

Just let our Sam's membership drop after like 15 years. Unless you can make this into a money maker OR you just have no access to Costco then it isn't worth your time. My wife would have me driving 30 minutes PAST the Sam's club to go to Costco bc Costco is just so much better.
Same - they try so hard to be Costco, but it's just not the same. When we had a Sam's membership with a club just 2 miles from our house, we would literally drive 10 miles to make a big monthly shopping trip at Costco because it was just that much better.

I never been a big fan of clubs because i think weekly deals on supermarket are better and we tend to overbuy stuff that don't get consumed before they go bad, BUT i would get Sam's free membership for the discounted gas AND 20% off gift cards.

Why are people still fighting over sams and costco? They are both garbage on price. You go there for the one off specialty things. Not meat, seafood, produce, ext. Maybe for some baked goods and unique snacks. Them actually good and far between specials. For general groceries, better off going to an actual grocery store.

Costco is better overall. Still things at Sam's that Costco just doesn't carry tho.
I like App check out, esp in Covid world. No lines, just check out from your own cell phone. Smilie
I like costco but hate lines. I have both memberships.

Sam's club is so much cleaner and nicer than Costco, and way less crowded and so much more organized. This is a great deal!

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. I picked up the deal, sort of excited to go in and check it out, especially the curbside pickup.

I'm a Costco shopper. Does anyone have some compelling reasons as to why trying Sam's Club might be worthwhile?
I'm a member of both and the Scan and Go app is a spectacular time saver and a well-designed user interface. Worth the price of entry alone IMO. Scan your items before putting them in your basket, slide to pay, done! No more waiting in line at the register like at Costco. Each club has advantages over the other. I HATE that Costco doesn't label their aisles (but I get it, if you are hunting? More likely to buy more.) Costco: Better milk, cleaner, nicer, more "upscale" stores, with better variety. Sam's: Less expensive produce, better overall cash back, 3 clubs near my home or work, cheaper gas. (After 5% Sam's MC rebate.)

If you want no-contact shopping, curbside pickup works well. Order online, go to store, park in numbered spot, use app to tell store you're there, store associate comes to your car and places the items in your car.
You can also use the scan and go in the app to scan your items, pay and leave without using checkout lines.

No banner is showing with that offer, directly saying become a member. Adblocker is off.

Any suggestion?

Has anyone successfully tried this with a different email and have it worked and the $45 credit loaded. My membership expired last month and I've been planning to renew and I want to take advantage of this deal
