Always the people that need to justify their money spent in these listings.

I own a 65in LG OLED, and a 55in Samsung Q80R.... Both last year's top TVs for price and performance... And I still use the Hisense 65in I got last year for $240 and I have no issue with the 50in ONN I bought for $100 as well.

Budget 4K are pretty damn good from Septre, ONN and the like... People praise TCL and forget people talked trash about them as well... Same thing for Vizio.

Even more interesting is a lot of budget sets use 2nd tier Samsung VA panels that actually look better than the entry level LGs with poor contrast.

man... $228 for a full array led 4k 65" TV shipped free. Imagine seeing these deals 10 years ago, you'd hardly believe it.

Why is it so hard for you to see that they might, err, do in many cases make a WM only or BF only variant that is virtually "the same" but is missing a feature here or there? They've been doing such for "BF model" tvs for years.
Because the model/SKU number suggests it's only for Black Friday and you don't design a new model for a couple million TV's.... Far cheaper to just eat the costs up front then dealing with all the headaches of getting such few items from manufacturer in China to store shelves Slicksville USA.

I'd go with the TLC because it has Android and Bluetooth..... and it has the TLC emblem on it..... Personally, I don't care about the name but it seems a lot of people do.
TCL Emblem ? The symbol of Poverty ? laugh out loud

As for bluetooth, these budget sets routinely have 200ms+ of audio lag on bluetooth.

I disagree with basing the decision on Dolby vision in this price bracket.

Dolby vision tonemapping is worthless without at least 400-500nits to work with.

If you want even remotely hdr-looking image at the 200nits range of these budget Sets, you need a mid range PC connection w/ madvr dynamic tonemapping which is superior to Dolby's tonemapping.

I like it and am very impressed with the picture quality when playing back Dolby Vision content. I'm sure there are more expensive TVs with Atmos and Vision support that can display it better.

For the price point getting Dolby Vision support and custom color profiles from content you playback is absolutely worth $22 to me.

It most certainly will not live 10 more years. Capacitors have a shelf life of 20yrs, they may still be ok for longer, but they're not safe and put the rest of the circuit in danger. EEK!

I only turn my plasma on during the holidays to reminisce of life before trump.

I'll open it up and replace them if I have to when the time comes. laugh out loud Not the first time I've opened a TV for repair.

Can you please tell me about the Target deal? Is it live? Or when does it go live? Thank you
I believe it will go on sale at 7 tonight.... timezone dependent though, not sure if they'll reflect that like Walmart seems to do..... or at least for me last night.... It didn't hit available until an hour later for me or the correct time in my timezone.

Except it's not designing a new model, it's an existing model that they removed some features from, could be a software mod or they leave out a chip or a board. Not difficult to believe for the quantity we're talking here. Warehouse clubs get their own versions of items all the time, and Walmart is the largest retailer in the US.

Hey, TLC is now a respectable name and in a lot of cases better than the big guys for 20-30% less. As for the Bluetooth, haven't heard one bad thing from people buying the Hisense models..... Even so, my Stereo system can fix that, so it doesn't appear lagged

I'll stick with my story.... wait til the reviews start flowing in and then tell me I told you so.... or in your case, ignore me/it all together.

Again, why is is so hard to you to accept what they've been doing for years as fact?

Right, it's not designing a new model. what you say, or subbing in some sub prime panels, less HDMI's. cheaper speakers, certifications, lesser warranty. etc. Those are some of the cost cutting I've remembered over the years on "BF TV's"
Not that hard to remove a few features from a TV to save a few bucks to meet retailer demands.
And those are from SAME BRAND BF TV's. It's even easier when it's already rebadged Hisense to store brand 24/7/365

^ This guy gets it. It's very likely using the exact same panel, design, etc. as the Hisense. But just like when you sell a car or electronic device in different markets, you add and remove features to meet different price segments and so you don't cannibalize your main brand.

I remember many years ago they sold a low-end Lenovo laptop. Looked identical on the outside, but on the inside they physically removed one of the laptop's speakers so you only had one. laugh out loud It was a hilarious thread and everyone thought they had gotten a defective unit, but nope. Spec sheet only says one speaker; there was literally nothing in the other speaker slot. That's the type of shit they pull to meet price points for Black Friday. LMAO
