- The Walmart version has an IPS screen (TN on BB version) with better viewing angles, and higher 250 nit brightness (220 nit on BB version).
- The Walmart version has a USB 3.1 Gen 2 with Power Delivery (PD) and Display Port (DP) support, which means you can have up to 3 displays (laptop screen + 1 via HDMI +1 via USB-C to HDMI). (BB version can only support 2 displays: laptop screen + 1 via HDMI).

You should look them over, but my take on the gist of them was that it was a significantly better than average gaming setup, but that MSI gets a lot of grumbles for their bad customer service.
Also, I think it was noted that -- although the device has a backlit keyboard, the backlighting of the keys was not super customizable.
Ask your son if that matters a lot.
