Last year's Sam's deal was similar but it was for the iPhone 11, whereas Walmart did it on the iPhone Xr.
So hopefully Sam's will do it on the iPhone 12/mini/Pro.
I'm with Sprint currently, and I can't do any monthly bill credit deals until next year when the free line gets permanently locked in.
Iphone 11 for $700 with a $400 bill credit gets it down to $300 which is a fantastic price. That's cheaper than the SE2 for a pretty fantastic all around phone.

not like I could roll the cost of 2 months service into the cost , pay off device and be done with the AT&T or Verizon or Sprint service ?

If it's not an upgrade you are forgetting $749 for iphone 11 which is a 4g phone and same price of iphone 12 a 5G then a credit pull and the nightmarish activation at the Walmart kiosk! Buying a 4G phone at the price of a 5G phone is simply no deal. Yes 5G is still a couple of years old but definitely getting a lot of traction and may be done in 1 year! What will be worth of a 4G phone then?

The only contract model I could find in-stock is the iPhone 11 Pro 64GB, and multiplying their monthly rates equate to $849 ($150 off original MSRP)–Apple is also no longer officially selling the 11 Pro.
If they don't raise their prices for the BF sale, one can expect to get the 11 Pro for $400 after GC. Note, this is before tax (on $849) and activation/upgrade fee from the carrier.
Some folks mentioning they don't care for device payment. Since the discount is coming from Walmart in a form of a GC (and not monthly bill credits), you can always pay it off early and own the device.
